We adopted a Mustang in 1986 from the BLM and have had him 23 yrs now…he was 18 months old when we adopted Apache.
With a Mustang you have to take it slow and easy with them. My husband talked gently to him and let him smell everything, saddles, blanket brushes etc.
Then he sit in the stall with him for several weeks before even trying to make him do anything. You cannot break a Mustang with force or harsh words.
When my husband finally put the saddle on him in only 2 weeks after we got him, Apache didn’t know what to do so my son took a Quarterhorse we had and led Apache around with his dad on Apache to show him what he needed to do…he never bucked the first time, only turned around and looked at my husband and wondered what the heck was he doing on his back…LOL..Apache is a wonderful horse and rides children with such care he won’t do anything but walk slowly when he has a kid on him…Everyone around here just loves him.

I’m so sorry about Winnie….you know sometimes you wonder if its the time to let them go, but in your heart you know when its time…when you look in their eyes and see nothing but pain and sadness its time…..I lost my 16 yr old Tinkerbell cat a little over a year ago and Panda my Siberian Husky I had to let go, she had cancer too…hers was on her leg and the tumor was getting bigger and I could just see the pain in her eyes…..Its always hard but your sweet Winnie is not in pain any longer because you loved her enough to let her go….you did the right thing..who knows maybe she met up with my Tinkerbell and they are running around playing together at the Rainbow Bridge….Hugs, Suebee

I saw this in our local paper…..the lady was her co worker it says, so I doubt she was a professional pet sitter……the whole story makes me wonder, why did the woman leave the pig there for 9 whole months over just an ankle injury…..unless she was on deaths door 9 months seems like a long time to me…just my opinion of course…..Suebee

I find these posts really interesting…
My Siberian Husky Duke died when he was 14 and my beagle died at 16 yrs old.
Duke was on seizure medicine for about 5 yrs before he died so I contribute his death to liver failure…..I know my Snoopy beagle died from kidney failure but he had an enlarged heart too…..Right now I have a Siberian Husky that is 15 yrs old but she has cancer but I feel fortunate she’s still alive….I have a collie Bear that is 12 yrs old……so I"m not sure about the big dog/little dog ratio but there has to be something to it………Suebee

Could be almost anything…..the only way to find out would be to take her to the vet….My Siberian Husky had a lump on her leg and it turned out to be cancer, so please have yours checked out to see if its serious….Suebee

My dogs love the stuffed toys too…I buy mine at yard sales or Salvation Army…..you just have to be careful of the eyes and noses but after mine tears those out I throw them away, they never swallow them…they do NOT feel good if you step on them barefooted…..then the stuffing I say "we have a massacre"…..then throw that away and pull out what I can thats still in it….after that they play with the furry part of it for awhile, then eventually it gets thrown away too….but buying them at yard sales and such really saves on store bought toys…suebee

In my house its always the CAT……I ended up putting a box on the bed where he had been going to try to deter him from doing it again….I also cleaned the mattress with Resolve fabric cleaner and sprayed it with citrus spray, cats arent’ suppose to like that smell…..my best advice is try to catch the one doing it in the act and scrub the area really well….I know how frustrating it can be…..especially at 1 a.m. and you reach over and find the wet spot….I always keep an extra set of sheets and blankets handy too…….Suebee

I have a cat that I hardly ever see drink water but I know he does drink and if the odor is so bad you can smell it just by passing by the room where the litter box is the litter box needs cleaned completely with soap and water and fresh litter, just scooping the soiled litter out is not going to help…..the scratching the floor in the hallway more than likely is where she has peed before, possibly on the curtains you mentioned. I would guess that what you found was poo and not a furball in the curtains….but…. All cats will cough up furballs occassionally, that happens from where they groom themselves….I doubt hair is coming from the carpet and her eating it….when they lick themselves they swallow hair from grooming…..If you go on this website (Pet Peoples Place) and click on the tab on the top of the page on CATS then look under the different headings there is advice about litter problems, health issues and advice in general…..Hope that helps….Take Care, Suebee

I agree with sbonds 110%….take your dog to the vet NOW!….It really is a matter of life or death……he falls to the ground and lays there?….there is something seriously wrong that needs vet attention immediately, by waiting so long the vet bill will probably be even more now sounds like he’s gonna need some IV fluids to hydrate him again…..PLEASE take him to the vet TODAY!….Take Care, Suebee

I know exactly where you coming from on this subject….gosh how I feel the same way and it breaks my heart to see stuff like that…..I bet if you went over and got the dog and replaced it with a ceramic or stuffed dog they wouldn’t even know the difference for a week……a ceramic dog is all they deserve….they really don’t want one to play with and love just to have one to say they have a dog….and some people put them so far away from the house they look like their in the next county…….really ashame, animals deserve better…..Take Care, Suebee
