how is your dog?
Aug 11, 2009 at 6:29 #466570Could be a urinary track infection. Go to the vet to get a urinalisys, and get her spayed.
Aug 11, 2009 at 6:28 #466572Could be a neck problem. You have to go to the vet for an exam and possible xrays. Keep your dog from running and jumping. Crate him/her if needed and leash walk only to go to the potty. Get to the vet asap.
Aug 5, 2009 at 10:38 #466552chewing logs and sticks can lodge splinters in the gums and can cause pain and eventually infection. I know dogs like to do that but it is not good for them. Let us know how your wimy is after the vets.
Aug 5, 2009 at 7:59 #466548I would try to call the vet specialists in your area or the vet colleges to see if they can give you any insite or a direction to go. You definaly need to search for someone who is experienced in this area. Not all vets are. Good luck
Aug 5, 2009 at 7:55 #466555As dogs age their skin and body changes just like us. The hormonal change could of accelerated this also. These sound normal but obviously have the vet check them out the next time you are there. Black spots around the genital area could also be bacteria. Does your dog have skin problems? If you notice scratching or itching down there then go to the vet. You might also notice pustules appear if it is an allergic reaction or infection.
Aug 5, 2009 at 7:47 #459455socialize, socialize, socialize! Get that puppy around all and anything that might come up, kids, elderly, dogs, cats, men whatever. This is the start of a well rounded dog. Start with training manners. biting and jumping do not get rewarded with pets and play and treats. You can start to train him/her to sit for everything. That is like asking him/her to say please. Then get into an obedience class when he/she is about 4 months is they allow it. Set your boundries around the home with the dog and everyone in the house. Make sure everyone follows the same ones you set. if you don’t want the dog on the couch start that now. It is best to have the dog stay in a certain area when you eat. And walks are a great bonding experience. Good luck!
Aug 4, 2009 at 9:07 #466546You have to speak to the vet. Your dog might be having allergic reaction to this. They might also try to lower the dose if they think you should still try. They should be observing the dog for a couple hours after the shot. Go for a second opinion with a allergy specialist for your dog if you need. I assume this is being given for chronic skin infections?
Aug 4, 2009 at 8:57 #466550go to the vet for an exam, there could be an infection or abcess without you being able to see it. Some dogs have black gums but the pawing at the mouth is concerning.
Aug 4, 2009 at 8:50 #459412You must do some leg work and go online to find all the golden retriever rescues in the surrounding areas. Call them in person, be truthful and ask them if they will help in this situation. I looked and there are about 15 that I see in the texas and oklahoma area. They might be able to direct you to someone who can help. Just remember to be honest and sincere. This will get you farther than not. Good luck.
Aug 4, 2009 at 8:52 #459448Don’t give up. It has only been a week. Make sure you are giving even attention to both the new dog and the shitzu. Try to keep a calm home and have both dogs near you when you are giving attention. Slowly to both. Does the shitzu have a favorite toy? The new dog is just starting to get used to the home and will learn the ropes soon. The shitzu will need to show the cocker what the limits are and will get niped once in a while. These things can take months so don’t give up. You can call the shelter to see if they have a behavior specialist to give you advice on getting the new pair acclimated with out stress. The shelters are experienced with this. If yours isn’t go to the hsus website to see if they have advice or info about where you can get more info in your area. Good luck, soon you will enjoy the new pair as they will too.
Aug 4, 2009 at 8:34 #445102Sorry I am repeating myself. Anyway, sometimes you need more than one dose of dewormer. What did the vet say about the runny stool?
Aug 4, 2009 at 8:32 #445100Has she been to the vet? She needs kitten shots and a fecal. Kittens can have worms or coccidia.
Aug 3, 2009 at 4:02 #472236thanks!
Aug 2, 2009 at 10:52 #439863How long did your brother have the cat? did you have it before him then let him have it? How long have you had the cat back? Sounds like the cat is happy to be home with you and just needs to be shown the ropes again on what you will allow. Being in different homes can throw an animal off in knowing what to expect. My cat lived to 20 years and had a few changes through out her lifetime. So I think this could be normal unless there is an underlying health problem that is causing the wanting more attention situation. Has your cat been drinking more or losing weight? Seems ok but make sure to let you kitty know what is expected and what the boundries are again. And,..enjoy your new cat hehe. just keep an eye on any other odd behaviors fr health reasons. I think your cat is happy though. steph
