Don’t give up. It has only been a week. Make sure you are giving even attention to both the new dog and the shitzu. Try to keep a calm home and have both dogs near you when you are giving attention. Slowly to both. Does the shitzu have a favorite toy? The new dog is just starting to get used to the home and will learn the ropes soon. The shitzu will need to show the cocker what the limits are and will get niped once in a while. These things can take months so don’t give up. You can call the shelter to see if they have a behavior specialist to give you advice on getting the new pair acclimated with out stress. The shelters are experienced with this. If yours isn’t go to the hsus website to see if they have advice or info about where you can get more info in your area. Good luck, soon you will enjoy the new pair as they will too.
