Hi Sophie, they need so much exercise! I have seen one get to the dog park and NOT STOP RUNNING FOR AN HOUR +++!
If you don’t have time to exercise the dog more, consider a dog walker, it’s money well spent.Mar 22, 2007 at 1:43 #489744How you doin annamarie?
It seems he was trying to prove a point about the Grizzly’s aggressive reputation. Not unlike Steve Erwin, he blamed himself when he was targeted by wildlife. Ironic they both met the same fate…Mar 22, 2007 at 1:39 #456112Hey, It’s auntsuse, I really hope it was not me that offended you. I have had a similar problem with my hound dog until I really focused on it and, as I told you flipped him treats when he was near me.
The only way someone can offend you, is if you are offended. If it is a one way street, they look dumb for being so reactionary.
I find that the only people that can do that are people that I respect and care about.
So just work with your bud, no one can can understand what you have with your dog but you.
Take care and stay happy.Mar 21, 2007 at 4:19 #449951Hey, what makes you think if they have problems with the canned and wet food that they don’t have any issues with the dry. It is NOT just Canadian based food companies. You think we IMPORT all our dogfood from Canada?! Absolutely not.
In the US we have what are called ‘Batchers", they take your ingredient list, pat u on the head and say"we will produce this dog food for 3.00 a bag and you can charge whatever you want! They buy their products in huge quantaties and store themin non-climate controlled environments. The dog food companies donot ever even SEE the ingredients, much less test them for quality. Then the batchers cook the heck out of the stuff kiling any and all nutritional value the food may have been able to retain.
Do your homwork. I am putting tgether an informational website on dogs and have been researching for the past six months. I stumbled upon a great food, quite by accident while doing the research for dog nutrition and the "standards" or lack there of in the industry. It is truly horrifying. There is actually "roadkill" in some foods that they count as protein. Diseased, contaminated meat, where do you think it goes? You think they throw it away? Sure they do…and pigs really do fly…Ok, sorry, but I am passionate about the blind eye the american public turns on this issue. The european standard is far more stingent than our own.I suggest you carefully read that list and KNOW they probably have had issues already with dry,but not been caughtMar 21, 2007 at 12:59 #449947Go to http://www.healthiestdogfood.com

20. Meijer’s Main ChoMar 20, 2007 at 10:48 #456094yea, why do you let him off the lead? Just curious. I do it at the beach and it took about a week but i got my hound-dog/Shepherd mix to come to me.
I kept delicious snack treats in my pocket and when he came near me, I would just toss him one. He is such a chow hound is was literally a week when he would focus on me. The trick is to toss it in the air so he has to "work" for it. He won’t want to miss that treat!Good luck.
Mar 20, 2007 at 10:43 #487700My sisters Bouvier was claustrophobic. She had the same issue but with defication-count your blessings!
Mar 20, 2007 at 10:40 #475025You tell him auntsuse says as long as you are busy with a horse-and you will be busy with your horse-you won’t have time for boys.
He should respond positively to that news, and it’s the truth!Good luck!
Mar 17, 2007 at 5:51 #489579Well Subee, That explains a lot!
Catherine, you are funny, If not for my husband I would have as amny as you too! As it stands if I add even 1 more dog to the "pack" you’ll be seeing me on divorce court!
Are you currently working as a dog professional?Mar 17, 2007 at 5:46 #489583Whaaaat!!?? What knd of monsters would do that to an animal?
I don’t know Ferrets either, but those kids need to have some sort of MAJOR consequences for thier actions. Maybe their allowances should be "donated" to Freeway… Can you access anyone to suggest this?Mar 17, 2007 at 5:40 #493280Hey Bella’s Mom, you must not blame yourself for not knowing more about the vaccinations. I mean that’s why we pay professionals, right?
I sure do agree that we must educate ourselves and each other. We really do learn best from our conversation with one another and if nothing else we have one strong common bond-the love of animals.
I have a couple of resources I will tap into and see if there is someone who won’t be concerned about ‘bad-mouthing’ a fellow vet (Sometimes they stick together) and give me a circumstance where 8 different vaccinations at one time (even if some were combined) would be warranted.
Please be at peace knowing you were doing the best for Bella, if someone you trusted made a mistake, well that none of us can predict.
I’ll add later when I can tell you with certainty if this was neglegent.Mar 17, 2007 at 2:37 #489557My Vet told me baking soda on a wash cloth and just rub the teeth, do a little at a time till they get used to it so they don’t run when they see the yellow box or develop an irrational fear of washcloths. If you use a toothbrush be extra careful and just let them lick it at first. then the next day a bit more and so on. I have also heard doggie toothpaste tastes like liver and you will have a much easier time with it. Brush from gum up like the dentist tells us to do ours.
God Speed… PS you may want to have a video camera handy, just in case it gets hysterical!Mar 17, 2007 at 2:26 #475012Wow, Carla. I don’t know much about ponies and instead of taking the time to ask a colleague I am going to direct you to a couple of sites:
http://www.shetlandminiature.com/
http://www.canadianponyclub.org/
Good luck and let me know how you decide to handle him.
Mar 17, 2007 at 2:19 #469600That’s easy… The only way to move forward in the industry is to go for the Bull! I’m sure you would very content to keep the status quo, but you seem very bright and involved, ready for the challenge. Sooner is better than later, improve your skills.
Let me know if Bulldogs really are as stubborn as people say!!Good luck.
Mar 17, 2007 at 2:15 #449853Her eyes are HUGE!!! And you call that precious little sweetie…Godzilla!??
