Ok WingedWolf I agree with that. We animal lovers are horrified when we hear about carcasses being dumped in dumpsters and other atrocities that occur in our society daily. I have always adopted all of the animals I have ever shared my life with because that is the only decent thing to do and I get the sense that you have done the same.
Jul 11, 2012 at 2:24 #490506Who are you calling a fool? Peta exists because people have become intolerable towards animals. They might have started out as a caring organization, but greed got the better of them and when the profits started rolling in, those suits weren’t about to stop doing what was so profitable. If a lot of animals had to die as long as the cash was rolling in they looked the other way. I would like to see Peta shut down and so would a lot of other good folks. Until more regulations are passed and people take the time to really get involved and I mean involved, this Peta organization will go on and on.
Jul 11, 2012 at 1:44 #473742Sorry, everyone is on facebook.
Let’s get something going here people.Jul 11, 2012 at 4:52 #490504Some things that are printed about PETA are true and some are untrue. Peta faces overcrowding in their facilities when they take in too many animals that are neglected and abused. Other rescue facilities face the same problem. That is why I encourage all animal lovers to adopt. I cannot see paying a lot of money for a pure breed when there are so many animals out there that need forever loving homes. And,if you really want a pure breed, there are many adoption agencies that rescue pure breed dogs as well as pure breed mixes.
Jan 24, 2011 at 3:21 #475814Mares can stay in heat for months. You need to separate these two horses until they can get along. It may take some time, but don’t try to ride them in the same ring or area, you don’t know what this mare will do and it could be very dangerous for both you and the mare.
Have you read anything about Parelli training. It is a more gentle way of training. You need to do some ground work before taking this horse out on the trail. I have a horse who doesn’t like anyone in his stall. By working using Parelli methods, I have taught my horse to like having me in his stall because we have started doing fun things in it. Like backing out of his stall, backing into his stall and just anything that gets his attention and seems like a game. Good Luck. Let me know how you make out.Feb 14, 2010 at 3:15 #475748I will say what all the other readers of this post would say if they wrote. Time to call the vet. Have you done that yet? It’s important because your horse could have a minor problem or a rather serious one and to be on the safe side you need to get an expert’s opinion.
Feb 8, 2010 at 10:19 #475744I would think so. Sometimes horses don’t like certain foods. I gave my horse an orange for Christmas and he wouldn’t eat it. But he does like all the usual horse treats like apples, carrots, sometimes even corn. Never give a horse things that you aren’t sure about. Ask your science teacher about talking with a equine vet about this. I would love to know the answer too.
Feb 8, 2010 at 10:12 #475742It may be possible your horse has an ulcerated tooth. Glad you are having your horse checked by a vet. Make sure it is an equine vet because they can get your horse’s mouth opened wide and look in the back of his mouth to check all his teeth. I had the same thing happen with my horse and the equine vet found an ulcerated tooth and with the vet’s experience he was able to treat it and Cowboy’s attitude changed and he was much happier after the procedure. Your horse will thank you.
Feb 8, 2010 at 9:49 #451681There must be shelters in your town where you can get advice. She absolutely must be seen by a vet. Don’t wait or you will lose her. If you absolutely can’t find $ and people won’t help you or loan you money, you need to speak to an adult who will help you out. Care for her the way you would care for yourself.
Feb 8, 2010 at 9:41 #475746Is your horse able to move around…walk, trot and canter at a nice pace? Does he seem out of breath when you work him? My horse is at a good weight, and some riders would think he is overweight, but in the winter he needs more good hay to keep him from getting colic. We keep him on warm water too in the winter. He has warm water in the pasture and in his stall. Have you weighed him? He probably is a little overweight so you probably should have your vet check him out. He will be able to tell you a good weight for him and go over your feeding diet with you. Hope this helps. Let me know how you make out with his diet.
Oct 29, 2009 at 3:17 #473739Hi,
Hey where is everyone? My gelding who came from the track is still flattening his ears when I enter his stall. Not sure why, but think it’s because when they went into his stall at the track with brushes or tacking up…they tacked up and brushed off dirt in his stall and weren’t very nice about it you know they are always very hurried at the track. So when I go in with a brush or whatever, he thinks I am going to kill him or eat him. He is very willing to come out of his stall and otherwise is very nice.
Now I am going in his stall very quietly and slowly and rub his shoulder with no brush in sight. I am spending time just standing with him and letting him know I pose no threat to him.
Otherwise we are great buddies. He is very willing under saddle and a great guy. I spend lots of time on the ground with him too. Grazing and leading and just hanging out together. We will get over this if I keep working on it slowly.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.Feb 15, 2009 at 2:05 #475566Marie I just read your post and I’m wondering if your vet put your horse on stall rest for a certain period of time. It doesn’t seem like this condition should keep coming back over and over again. Fluid build-up usually means something else is going on.
Nov 17, 2007 at 9:44 #485346May 21, 2007 at 7:33 #493870Cutebirdz, I am glad you are working with horses. Thanks for all you do.
May 21, 2007 at 6:51 #493867An argument is just a good discussion. And, putting down animals is here to stay. But, if we want to stop it we have to pass laws to do that. Whatever we want to stop, we have to do it ourselves. And, we have to stick together to do it, we have to stick together!!!!
