Hi Snaki, my daughter owns a springer spaniel and he is a very well behaved dog and great with the children but it is all about how you train them from the beginning. If you do decide to have any dog get a book from the library and study all the training methods. There is nothing more rewarding than a well behaved dog but remember the best thing you can do for him is to give him LOTS OF LOVE! Good Luck. Larm 🙂

:)What a lovely idea Yohan. They do make such a difference to our lives. This is my gratitude and thanks to:- CINDY: Thank you for making my daughters childhood so special and for teaching her a natural love of dogs for the rest of her life. BESS AND POPPY: Many thanks for being there when my husband was in hospital. I was able to sleep peacefully knowing you were there to protect me. RUSTY: Thank you for many happy memories and for being so brave when you were ill. Also thank you for being so gentle when my grandchildren were playing with you. BEN: Well Ben as you know you are still very special and a wonderful companion for the last 14 years. ?

Thanks Karen I will certainly follow your advice. Ben came to us at 3 yrs old he had been abandoned and at the time we had another dog Rusty. Ben was always worried about fireworks but Rusty was never bothered and it was when we lost Rusty 3 years ago that Ben’s fear seemed to get worse. I will try your advice and let you know the results. Hi Karen, Thanks for replying. No I do not know of a local trainer around here. So I would be grateful of your training programme. Ben is 14 years old and very astute. We do not show any fear when these fireworks go off and I do know not to fuss or stroke him when it is happening. We just carry on as normal but this still does not stop him from shaking from head to toe and walking around very agitated. I worry that at his age he may have a heart attack. Looking forward to your advice. Larm

Hello Mike, Sorry reply is late but I lost the site!!!! I do know Neath a little. I was driving back from Swansea many years ago and got lost and ended up in Neath,I always remember the policeman telling me that if I kept on driving I would end up in the sea!!! You will be pleased to know that I bathed Ben’s paw in a medicated shampoo and it seems to be healing up. The vet seems to think that it was just a slight soreness. Anyway he had his bath yesterday and did not mind it being rubbed so hopefully it is now healing. Hope Robbie is fit and well, Regards Larm

Thanks Mike it looks as if I will have to take him to the vet. Usually I would have done that straight away but the last time he was taken it took 3 of us to hold him and he had to be muzzled and that was just to have his nails cut!!!!!!!!As you probably gather he absolutely hates the vet. He was a rescue dog and 3 years old when we had him so we don’t know what might have happened in his life before. I would hate you to think that I just would not have taken him. Thanks a lot for caring. Larm :-[

Hello Mike, Just had a look at ‘Robbies site’ he looks like an absolute darling you were lucky having him so young at least you could train him to our own standards. Thought you might like to know our Ben has also had many a happy time at Caswell Beach,we visit Swansea regularly as my parents originally came from there.
