AN AGGRESSIVE RABBIT IS NOT THE SAME AS AN AGGRESSIVE DOG, I feel sorry for that rabbit.
Aug 20, 2011 at 7:02 #479405Take her to the vet, she may have had a stroke.
Aug 20, 2011 at 6:58 #479443You obviously know nothing about rabbits!! I have had ‘mutt’ rabbits as you so lovingly call them and they have never had health issues or been aggressive so it is very irresponsible for you to say that all rabbits that aren’t pedigree are aggressive. The above article also explained your rabbit may have had a bad diet or was overweight and thats what was making her have those squidgy poo, which most rabbits have and they eat them to get the full amount of nutrients from their diet. Also a lot of rabbits do not like to be handled and would rather hop near you. You could have had your rabbit rehomed. There are many people like you that buy rabbits and are never fully informed. I think it was a VERY selfish act to have had that poor bun put to sleep. Before you buy another one (which I don’t think you should) I think you should get yourself educated on bunnies!
Aug 20, 2011 at 4:06 #479440hold on… you got your rabbit put down because she smells and sheds? do you really think it was wise to get a second one if you couldn’t look after the first one?
Aug 19, 2011 at 5:24 #479432They did not escape. My rabbit could jump on to the top of her hutch and escape but would always go back in and I’m more than 9999999999999999999% sure my guinea pig could not have escaped as even when he was giving the chance when we had bad wind and the run was ripped to pieces he still sat in his hutch quite warm and content. I am also perfectly aware I wont see them again, so thanks for that chilling reminder!
Aug 19, 2011 at 5:19 #479431They didn’t live in my house they lived in my garden. I live in a flat and have lived in the same flat for all of my life (18 years) I know each one of my neighbours very well and used to have my neighbours look after them when we were on holiday. I have had rabbits in that garden for 10 years! They are still missing but unaware to me the day after they went missing my brother noticed a fox sleeping in their hutch (which I had left open in case someone had tried to return them or if they had escaped and try to get back) which is strange because I spoke to all of my neighbours and they had never seen a fox before. I know my parents would never get rid of them. I live with my mum and she was just as distraught as me.
Mar 29, 2011 at 9:51 #467646Take him to the vet immediatley, my Bullmastiff did the same thing, we took her to the vet straight away and the put her on fluids, she was back to her usual self the next morning.
Mar 29, 2011 at 9:49 #467642My dog has the same problem. The best things you can do is to completely stop giving him any human food. Feed him charcoal biscuits (Bonio’s for example), or put dog charcoal powder in his food (which you can buy from most pet shops), also take any wet food out of his diet and just feed him dried complete dog food biscuits, it seemed to do the trick for mine.
Mar 29, 2011 at 9:45 #467648It could be a kidney problem, I would make an appointment with the vet as soon as you can.
Mar 29, 2011 at 9:42 #445934If he seems happy and isn’t in pain then I see no reason to get him put down. Although it is your decision as the owner and if condition deteriorates and he becomes uncomfortable, then you have to decide what is best for him. It’s often a very hard decision for any owner to make, but you have to remember at the end of the day it’s often the only thing left you can do.
Mar 28, 2011 at 7:07 #479416usually you can try pet behaviour sprays, but have you tried moving the box, as rabbits usually pick a spot in his cage that they always do the toilet in, usually the furthest spot from the food bowl, but not always.
Mar 27, 2011 at 11:22 #478079It amazes me the amount of careless rabbit owners, who have got pets and not read up about them first. But whats worse is that the people selling the animals know nothing about them either. I just hope that this forum has encouraged people to read up about pets before they get them.
Mar 17, 2011 at 12:39 #472425Possibly Hills Science Plan, it isn’t hollistic but they do a food for small dogs called sensitive stomach just make sure yyou get the mini one (for small dogs) or you could try burns mini bites which you can order on the burns website, and it is a hypo-allergenic and hollistic food made with brown rice.
Mar 17, 2011 at 12:32 #452270you can log on to the kennel club website, but im not sure what it is exactly so youll have to type it into google, you wouldnt be able to get the exact markings you want but you can get a breed, a sex and an age and when you view the dog/pup you can see the markings then.
Mar 17, 2011 at 12:30 #484870I would definitely recommend two dishes, also you have to remember that the food in their cheek pouches will be stored somewhere and not eaten right away and they both might be eating it at another time.
