if you clean your cage every week it should be fine. but if you find the smell still bothering you maybe step it up to 2 cleanings a week

Feb 18, 2005 at 12:00 #479954honestly people should not be able to keep wild animals. they are wild they deserve to live in the wild and not locked up in some cage or house or even on a farm they should be free to live in the wild like they do. that is why they are called wild animals. they are not demesticated like dogs and cats and other animals. wild animals should be left in the wild and not kept as demesticated animals.

Feb 12, 2005 at 12:00 #480868i am guessing the reason why the female attacked the male was because he was in her territory. you should never introduce rats in the other rats territory. it should always be done on neutral ground. so the next time you introduce the 2 rats do not put them in either ones cage together. find a spot that neither own and let them meet there. do you each just own one rat? that might be another problem if you each only own that one rat. they could not be use to other rats. and a rat can show no aggression towards humans at all but be super nasty towards other rats i know that’s how mine is. i hope all this helps. good luck.
Feb 12, 2005 at 12:00 #480865i suggest you find a vet who has treated rats before and get your rat to the vet ASAP.
Feb 10, 2005 at 12:00 #491635i’m sorry but you shouldn’t be on here asking for money it’s wrong in so many ways. if you want a dog that bad maybe get a part time job or ask your mom or other relatives for some cash but don’t ask complete strangers who don’t even know if this is true or not for money. how are we to know if your actually telling the truth or not or if your just trying to scam people out of money. from the sounds of your pots it does not seem that you have tried other methods of getting money. and like one of the ladies said why not go down to a animal shelter and rescue an animal there.

Feb 4, 2005 at 12:00 #480819well by the sounds of it if u were my owner i would probably bite u too. when dealing with any animal you need to go into it with a positive attitude. if you don’t have a positive attitude towards the animals how do you expect them to be comfortable with you. rats can sense things like that. and the whole comment about the hungry snake was totally uncalled for. all u need to do is find good homes for them a home where people know how to work with animals not make them food. by how nasty you made yourself out to be on the forum i don’t think you should own any pets. i’m sorry but that’s my opinion.
