I have to jump in …again on this one. There is NO excuse to NOT clean a cat box out at least ONCE a day….period!!!! Cats are fastedious creatures and just as another person used the analogy of a human using a public toilet with feces & urine…moved to the next stall…same thing…..next stall…..same. NO animal wants to step in their own business anymore than a human does.
If this task is just too unpleasant, get an automatic cat box (although there can be cleaning issues with them as well), or get rid of that poor cat who IMHO, deserves better….and cleaner surroundings.

Hi There….I posted before about this, but after thinking on it, you mentioned you clean the cat boxes 2-3 a WEEK? You NEED to be cleaning them everyday or even 2x a day depending on how often they use it. Cats are fastidious in regard to their litter box.
Also, taking him to the Vet would be the first thing I’d do, but you have to keep those litter boxes meticulously clean. Cats WILL protest if you don’t, like pooping in other places.
Wishing you the best of luck~L.P.

Hi …..I totally agree with the response *Catnip* gave. Gather them all up and take them to a NO-KILL shelter where they will be cared for (hopefully)as the *IDIOT* who leaves them out in the rain and throws scraps at them is an abusive person who does NOT give a damn about these kitties and/or animals in general.
This person is the one who needs to be euthanized!!!!!!!!
This situation is a HUGE *Pet Peeve* for me. Do the right thing and don’t even bother with this sub-human that is neglecting these sweet kitties who only want a warm & loving home.

This, to me is a NO BRAINER. Of course keep the cat.
Obviously this person has NO feelings for the cat and appears to have abondoned him, which is ABUSE.
I guarantee you this kitty KNOWS how lucky he is to have found you!

The World’s Best Cat Litter is definitely NOT the best, OR even acceptable. It has a high dust content which is extremely bad for cat’s delicate lungs, and tracked all over the place. I have been using Healthy Pet’s *Milled Grain and *Cracked Pine* brand and it works very well and tolerated well by cats with asthma, like my Simon-Love. I tried ALL the others and for me and Simon-Love, there is no comparison. BUT…I am going to check out the brand you like as well.

Prednisolone is a steroid and can create many problems long term, like kidney and liver damage. I would look for another Vet as well. There are a lot of alternative treatments for animals that don’t have the toxic side affects and do the damage that drugs do, and can turn disease around and heal animals.
Do you feed your cat dry food? Kibble is one of the worst foods you can give a cat (or dog) as there is not enough moisture and it almost always has corn, soy, gluten & by products which are very difficult for cats(and dogs) to digest. This may be why your kitty is throwing up. Her digestive system is being compromised. It has been my experience with cats to feed them either a raw food diet or an high quality canned food (Newman’s own, Halo, Blue Wilderness, Precise, Instinct, and Natural Balance all come to mind.) You won’t find these at your local grocery store, but Petco carries most of the brands I mentioned and all of these have *HUMAN GRADE* ingredients.
It is unfortunate that most people simply are not educated in regard to feeding and caring for their pets and don’t realize that our pets develop the very same diseases that we do and so it truly is all about the diet. Also: ALL vets (unless they are Holistic) will push their Science Diet, Royal Canin and other junk cat/dog food that is anything BUT healthy for your pet regardless of what the vet tells you and how it will help(it is ALL about profit) so don’t buy it! There is a plethora of info online about pet foods, healthy and not so healthy. The choice is yours.
One excellent online holistic pet store is: PetAlive.com You may find a product there that could help your cat. I have purchased many items there so I would recommend PetAlive.com for sure.
    Good Luck!

Upper respiratory issues NEED a vet’s attention as your cat may have an infection. IF you wait, your cat may die. Also, Feline Asthma is very common today and that needs to be checked as well, by a vet. My cat is on an inhaler(with the Aerokat) and this has saved his life. owning an animal requires tons of responsibility, so be responsible and PLEASE get him to a vet.
    Good Luck!

Your cat is jealous of the 2nd baby and is wanting YOUR attention. Cats have emotions very much like humans, so she is trying to say: Pay attention to me!!! Play with me & give me some quality time with my human mom.
    Good Luck

The best in my opinion is: Healthy Pet, Cracked Corn and Milled Grain. Both are virtually odorless. My cat has asthma and anything that has dust is bad news for asthmatic cats and cats in general. Petco doesn’t carry it in my area, but they may where you live. It is $10.99 for a 15# bag and lasts a long time. Most pet stores will carry this brand.
    Good Luck!

    This is a NO-BRAINER.
When people smoke in their home with their pets there, the pet will inhale the secondary smoke and of course THIS will affect them and their health. Animals are extremely sensitive to scents & odors, and anything like fragrances, sprays, SMOKE, toxic cleaning products, plug-in fragrance (one of THE worst in terms of toxic inhalants) will certainly affect their health.

First, I am SO sorry about your cat. It sounds like he had ASTHMA, which is very common in felines these days, as my cat has asthma which is controlled with an inhaler and the aerokat system. A lot of people think when a cat is coughing, crouched down with head extended out, they are trying to cough up a hairball. That is what I thought about my Simon-Love, and so my vet suggested an x-ray to see if it was indeed asthma. SOOOOOO many people are not *aware* of this in felines and shrug it off as being hairballs. I joined a group called: felineasthmarelief@yahoogroups.com and they were very helpful in teaching me HOW to administer the aerokat/inhaler which Simon-Love has adjusted to very nicely.
IF this was not asthma related, it’s possible he ingested something fatal.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss ;-(

Hi Adriean~I am SO happy that Simon is not the only Silent Siamese/Cat. Miles sounded like a dear kitty. Simon doesn’t even do a *silent* meow, BUT he does growl and hiss, especially putting drops in his ears and cleaning them, as he came with ear mites and they are THE worst to get rid of and I can tell his ears bother him so. He too is very intelligent and playful. Can jump like nobody’s business!!
Thank you for responding and sharing your story of Miles~Take care~L.P.

P.E.T.A is a RADICAL group who have been under scrutiny lately. I think PETSMART is a corporation whose bottom line is PROFIT, and that comes at the expense of their employees and the animals they sell. I will not patronize this and many other pet stores, and the ones that still sell puppies and kittens should be SHUT DOWN, because you have to know they are from puppy mills/kitten mills.
PETCO for example doesn’t sell puppies or kittens, but they do sell a variety of other small animals, which I think should be stopped. They have cats in cages(from the various shelters) in front of the store who are in these cages day & night, and are rarely, if EVER taken out and interacted with. I do patronize Petco only because I buy the Solid Gold food there and Avoderm for my kitties. I can barely walk in there knowing these cats in the cages are still there, and I walk out of that store in tears.
In my opinion, there needs to be a law that bans Pet Stores from selling ANY animals, but particularly PUPPIES and KITTENS, because we ALL know they are from puppy mills, in bred and abused horribly.

Thank You ALL for your heartfelt sympathy in regard to my beloved Siamese Butu.
I want to tell you how sorry I am for your losses as well, and that this forum brings together people who have so much in common in that we LOVE our precious pets in life………and in death.
I am still grieving, and I will NEVER get over this completely. He was just THE BEST CAT EVER!!!!
I hope everyone finds comfort in the fact that our beloved pets have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and are running, jumping, batting butterflies and napping in the warm sun.
This is a wonderful group and I feel fortunate to have found all of you, even under the untimely circumstances.
    God Bless ALL of you~L.P.

Munchie…..Thank you for your kind words. It is exactly one week since my baby went to Heaven. I have had a tough time, and Coco too. Today was the first day I was somewhat functional. I still cry, and Coco is very needy, always wanting my attention, so I really need to find a companion for her. Nothing could even come close or hold a candle to my Butu.
I am so sorry about your kitty. You must’ve been devasted! Did you get another cat? Sometimes that does help take the pain away a bit. So I am looking for a kitty.
I had the Aussie Pet Mobile come to my home today and give Coco a bath & spa treatment. She has never had a bath, and was SOOOOO well behaved. She is a sweetheart, and so gentle. I don’t have a tub….just a walk in shower, so I don’t know how I could give her a bath, but i wipe her fur down frequently.
Thanks again for responding and taking the time to write.
    Take care~Lynda
