the mating was an accident, as far as i knew, he was a she, and I kept her for companion purposes, i must of gotten mixed up along the way as him and all his siblings were black (litter of 6).

I dont think I have to worry about rats, Iv never seen one in our area (apart from mine, I have 3). I think I’ll go for preventative measures when I build my aviary. As for the mice now, I dont think they should be too much of a problem, Iv been putting food down for them, keeping them from venturing into the hutches, and the numbers shouldn’t rise too much as the local cats now know they’re here. I chase the cats off when I see them tho.

Well, we have 3 rats, and when we have them out on the bed, they play with a ping pong ball, I also used a big poster tube, cut it up then stuck it together to make a ‘T’ shape tunnel and when they’re in it, if i roll the ball in, they push it out again, I also made a harness for one of them and he walks around the house with me, he prefers the stairs though!

[/quote] Turns out, Neiko wasnt prenant, the baby shaped and sized lumps turned out to be tumors in and all along her intestines and nothing could be done so we had her put to sleep, we are soon to lose Nemo aswell to a tumor on her neck shes alright at the moment, its not affecting her quality of life but when the time comes, we will have her put down to so that she doesnt suffer.

hi, my rabbit died just before christmas :'( aged 11, she had had no vaccinations and never had any health problems, she had a big hutch and was let out to run around the garden during the summer and i could even take her for walks on her harness 8)! her mum only lived for 5 years but she had been bred a few times, which can alter the life span. the record is held by a doe that lived for 18 years, really i wouldnt say there was an average, id say that it depends on the care and exercise the bunny gets for a healthy lifestyle :).
