My 7 month old lovebird was hanging on the side of her cage this morning as I was leaving for work. I went back into the den to get something and saw her "squirt" what looked like urine almost horizontally out of the cage. It wasn’t poop, it was clear. I have a good length seed catcher and it went way beyond that. I see dried places on one other side of the cage this evening. Don’t mean to sound ignorant, but what’s this all about? I guess I need to put some kind of towel or covering under the cage that overlaps the perimeter of her cage. We haven’t had her DNA tested, but think she is female.

If it was a deliberate aim, she might have just been a bit upset about you leaving, but of course birds aren’t always thinking, nor thinking about target practice. Perhaps it’s really more or less a freak of nature???
