Is your horse able to move around…walk, trot and canter at a nice pace? Does he seem out of breath when you work him? My horse is at a good weight, and some riders would think he is overweight, but in the winter he needs more good hay to keep him from getting colic. We keep him on warm water too in the winter. He has warm water in the pasture and in his stall. Have you weighed him? He probably is a little overweight so you probably should have your vet check him out. He will be able to tell you a good weight for him and go over your feeding diet with you. Hope this helps. Let me know how you make out with his diet.
