    "Very, very NORMAL—especially for pups"
Id say VERY COMMON but not normal, mother nature did not have this in mind, so not NORMAL.
Yes see your vet if it continues. My youngest pup started this, a few scoldings stopped it. More of a puppy thing, catch it early.

Also try Petco as I’ve found they carry more good foods than Petsmart. I have my dog’s food shipped in sometimes for convenience.
Russia Roulette with your dogs health buying this food…

Noles1984 I agree, but I never said that were going to find perfect in our dog food. But its a far cry from anything bought on the shelf (preservative wise) Frankly I’ll stick to whom I can trust.
Food makers do not, and will not and don’t have to list all preservatives. They do or can say "we don’t put preservatives in our dog food" yet the preservatives are there because particular ingredient came from somewhere else with the preservatives. So saying they didn’t put them in is true but their being dishonest/misleading by not admitting their there by other means! Therefore it is not wise to buy anything on the shelf.
Unless this is just an argument rather then being for our dogs health? Id wise up…(not speaking to anyone in particular when I say that other then those using shelf-life dog food) or continue to play Russian roulette with your dogs ability to get cancer etc.
Thanks for the info on my dogs food, I already new that ingredient was there and know about that ingredient and am not worried about it, no diseases have been reported having that ingredient that I’m aware of? Have you heard anything about that exact ingredient, any reports you can send regarding that one ingredient would be appreciated. But I’d still stick with food that are not on the shelf.
Bond007 I didn’t need your last comment to figure BOTH of you out! LOL

"never punish him for going inside. I know it’s tempting but it is counterproductive. "
Sorry houndhelper but here we go again – I must again disagree, this is simply your personnel opinion, so again I will state from experience that punishing the pet does work!
If you lightly touch the pets nose in it, tap him on the behind with a firm "no" tone of voice persistently you cut the training in half or more.
Some will say your only scaring the animal into hiding it. But that is part of the process, when you find it (and search to find it soon) punish him or her again as mentioned above.
As this pet continues to hide it he will eventually (some times sooner then later)go in the area you want. This is when you don’t punish and this is when the animal begins to realize two things; 1) going in that area where he thought he was hiding it turns out to be where he does not get punished, so he continues to use that area, two your not the monster he (and houndhelper) were beginning to think you were.
    Remember persistence is key.
All of my dogs were brought home at 6 to 7 weeks, all were house trained within 10 to 12 weeks old, most within 9 to 10 weeks old. No cruelty occurred. And like humans they ‘get-over-it"!
The fact that you have them crate trained (which for the most part happens naturally) and waiting to go outside from the crate is huge. Now when their out of the crate just keep a close eye. I’m sure you are anyway. When they go wait till they just finish then follow the above.
Most trained animal behaviorist wont tell you the reason why they don’t like this; but its because "its free" and its affective! Remember were not talking "beating your animal"!
Last I checked houndhelper is a trained animal behaviorist/trainer? Correct me if I’m wrong?

Life’s Abundance Pet food, I have no connection, just a customer! Another, Flint River Ranch. The only reason I am not still with Flint River is because it gave one of my dogs (JC) diarrhea. I did some searching and found Life’s Abundance which he did fine on till the cancer was to much…

Please read down on this article to where it says "pet food companies do not have to list the preservatives in their foods"! Pretty freaking scary and worse if you ask me. And we think these people care about our animals. LOL, $$$ baby is all its about……….And when there done with you and your pet the vet gets the rest of your $$$ from the illnesses the food created. Ever wonder why they keep their mouth shut about nutriation?????

If its on the shelf? There’s one reason! Its got preservatives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Preservatives are added to do one thing allow the food to go for months if not years before finding its way on the shelf in your favorite pet store/grocery store. So you think the food you just purchased at your grocery store was made two weeks or even two months earlier? Think again! I have read that many times these grocery store bought pet foods sit in the warehouse for a year before making it to the store!
Studies have and are uncovering that these ingredients (preservatives) may be one of the culprits to cancer increases in our pets. Then theres chaining your dog as stressors etc but of coarse those are different threads!
Human food; Grocery store vs organic? Its a fact that organic is better, and this is because organic has no pesticides plus preservatives. Am I pushing organic pet food? Maybe? I am saying there are pet foods sold in stores treated like their organic but they arnt completely organic, if you see them sitting on a shelf theres your answer! Meaning to get these foods they have to be delivered to your house, not sold in pet stores or grocery stores. Yes there expensive but you use less when feeding! And you get what you pay for, or should I say, your dog etc gets what its owner pays for!!!!!!!
Doctors (vets are doctors) turn white in the face when you discuss nutrition. Not all doctors but most.
They didn’t study it (one page in ten thousand was on nutrition) as they did medicine, therefore they don’t see the difference when it comes to the nitty gritty regarding a batch of vegetables off a farm sprayed with pesticides and impregnated with preservatives (such as can veggies) vs organic food without those ingredients. therefore they may say to an ill patient ‘eat more vegtables" but they dont add the word organic!
Store bought pet food do not guarantee that the harmful pesticides and / or preservatives arent used because they are used! This is why the food has a shelf life and is less expencsive.
Doctors get paid to know one thing, medicine. So if they are telling you to use a food that has a shelf life such as pedigree (or vegatbles without the word organic), this is why. Furthermore a shelter using whatever brand of dog food should be evidence on its own that it cant be good for the dog in the long run. Shelters arnt choosing the food they use simply on if its good for the animal, they have a budget to keep.
Noles1984 hit the nail on the head "science trumps your opinion" sorry! After reading Houndhelpers post Id think he’d agree!
Suebee54 love ya but your doing the best you can, and if your having luck I pray it continues. Like Noles1984 said people drink etc their entire lives and nothing affects them, others die of liver disease!
Frankly, I have to live with my decisions. I cant ignore knowledge because it may cost me a bit more $$$!
Suebgone I hope your sitting down! Because I agree with every word you posted about dog food!
And as far as panties being twisted wherever, I only can wonder what its like when dani01 gets them diapers in a similar bunch?
Sbond I here your frustration! But don’t let it get the best of you when your outside your jurisdiction of experience, all due respect. This is another reason why I say dont rely on what they tell you there at the shelters. Everything there boils around money!
From Flintriver Ranch to now using Lifes Abundance dog food. After seeing what store bought food did to JC my recent Rott that died from cancer his dad before him (Chief) (JC stands for Junior Chief :). I will never use another store bought pet food! JC’s experence was life long, and resulted each time I took him off the clean stuff and put him back on the laced.
The food I use is delivered UPS. I chose when its delivered and its paid automatically from my acct. These foods are highly digestible meaning you use less. And less mess in the yard due to the fact that they are highly digestible, meaning not much is missed and utilized by the body. Some pet food stores brands say this but its not much differnt then if you were feeding them the next brand down. And again perservatives etc are laced in there!
    Good luck
PS Quick Question – Is it my imagination or is Dani01 following Sbond007 around this entire website rating every post with 5 stars? Just curious?
And is that what this rating thing was really meant to be, friends rating friends?
