Introducing an older pup is a good way to go. Around 10 weeks old the pup will be large enough to fend for itself if a fight would happen to occur yet young enough to be easily introduced.
Same sex pairs is best.
The most common way to introduce two gerbils is to use the split cage method.
First you need a 20 gallon (long is best) aquarium. Then you need to place a wire divider in the middle of the cage. Place a gerbil on either side. About everyday or so switch the gerbils around to get them use to one another’s scent. After about a week of doing this have another cage ready that neither gerbil has been in before. Put both of the gerbils in the cage. Watch them carefully and brake up any fights. Once you feel they are okay together you can put them in their permanent home and watch them for the next few days to make sure no fights brake out.Click on any picture to see full size:
I have 4 gerbils and getting a 5th one soon.
Pine bedding can cause respiratory infections and allergic reactions in gerbils.
She could have mites. They would make her scratch herself until she scabs.
You can not introduce a male gerbil to a pair of females. You must choose your breeding female and separate her from her sister.
To introduce the female and the male:
You need to create a split cage using at least a 10 gallon aquarium. Switch the gerbils every other day. After about a week place the gerbils in a new cage that neither has been in yet. Be ready to separate a fight. Watch the closely for a few hours to make sure no fights brake out. If they do fight remove the two and put them back in the split cage. Don’t be disappointed if your pair never has a successful introduction, just try again with a different pair.

Tips on breeding:
Get to know gerbil genetics so you can guess the outcome of the pups colors. Some colors are more valuable then others. Also, tame them from a young age so they are people friendly.I now only have 4 gerbils and possibly getting a fifth.
Their names are Scout: honey cream male, Maisy: piebald black female, Casey: piebald black female, and Minnie: mottled black female.A 5 week old hamster can be picked up from under its stomach now.
Handling the gerbil more often can help a lonely gerbil feel not as lonely.
They should be okay with one wheel. Two might take up to much room. They will take turns or run on it together.
Unless they’re dwarf hamsters, you shouldn’t keep 2 Syrian hamsters together. They usually will fight to the death.
I have already watched what petsmart really does to their animals and it discussed me. I went there and looked at some gerbils and all of them were sick.
They could possibly have some type of skin condition.
Puppies that are weaned to quickly can have weak immune systems. Which can make them more likely to get sick.
Russians are dwarf hamsters which live better in pairs of the same gender.
