I don’t believe your cat died of FIV but it does sound like she had a infection in her mouth that went undetected, the same thing happened to my cat Miles his breath was so bad and when he groomed himself his fur also had that horrible odor so I took him to the vet and he had a infection in gums that cleared up with surgery and antibiotics. I have also had fiv cats one is actually 21 years and was about 7 when I brought him in from outside. He has his ups and downs but for the most part his health seems stable, and I also have 2 other cats and both are negative for fiv

I hope that by now you may realiaze that a vet visit is in order, it does sound like he could be in kidney failure. My Chloe (cock a poo) was the sameway when I adopted her back in May 007. She just overnite started drinking a lot of water this happened on a saturday nite by sunday morning I called my vet at home and told him what was going on and he told me to meet him at the hospital right away and I’m glad I did because she was in kidney failure. I had adopted Chloe 3 weeks prior so I don’t know how long she was ill before it began to show. She spent 17 days in the hospital on iv’s and I was there with her atleast 6 hours everyday until she got better and I was able to bring her home. I still watch her and run to the vet whenever something dosen’t feel right and I know it’s just panic but I can’t help it. See your vet asap and don’t be embarrassed you have the right to be concerned. GOOD LUCK and I hope everything works out fine for you and your kitty.

Recently nutro has started making a hollistic wet food and it comes in small pkgs just enough for 1 serving and for a 9 yr old he should be on some kind of senior diet, but I do agree that i t is possible a prescription food might be better, maybe try k/d by hills which is what I give my 12 lb cock a poo because she has a very sensitive stomach, and I try not to give her too much dry food which she loves but with only 2 teeth she can’t digest it very well and vomits quite a bit so I stick to k/d for sensitive stomach. It can be kind of pricy but for health reasons it’s the best for her.
We love our pets so we do the best we can.

as a precaution I always close all bathroom doors and that is long term. cats love the bathroom but it can be a dangerous place for them.

It certainly sounds like your kitty was given some kind of drug and I would certainly get a toxicoloyg report and find out what she was given. So sorry this happened to your baby

I adopted my dog Chloe back in May 2007 and 3 weeks later she went into renal failure. Chloe spent 17 days in the hospital and finally pulled thru, but finding the right food for her was a challenge, her previous owner who passed away fed her pedigree champs and that is what she was used to, after she came home I went thru differnt foods for her she would not eat kd under any circumstances and she does not like paste it has to be chunks which also presented a problem because she has only 2 teeth, she is 12 yrs old, cocker/toy poodle mix. I finally found small bites wetfood from nutro and I have to smash it up for her and I also twice a week give her small bites dry food with mixables which she loves, but every now and then she will vomit everything she has eaten and I can’t figure out why. Sometimes it will be her dog food or sometimes bile like you mentioned. I stop feeding her for 24 hours and let her stomach rest then gradually start feeding her again but in smaller portions until she can hold her food again. It has been 6 mos since she was ill and she is due for a visit and lab work and I will mention this to the vet. I’d like to know what causes this. I think she should really be on a renal food, but she just won’t eat them. Someone told me to just gradually start her on renal food again, so I will buy Hi Tor neo diet next week after the vets visit and we will see what happens. Her vomiting worries me because I understand she can get a relapse.

There must be a emergency vet clinic in your area and that is where you should go. I wouldn’t wait until monday.

Why don’t you just call your vet and make an appointment to be seen

ahtnamas, your post stole my heart and brought back so many memories. I lost 3 of my babies in an 18 mos period this past year and I know how you feel. I too had my babies cremated and they are at home with me and believe me I miss them so much, only my heart knows.

Reagans is being a bully and I don’t know why. Something is going on, when we go out we put a pad down for the dog to use incase we don’t get back home in time to let him out and by golly Reagan is using it now and he is still dogging Chito, however today I noticed that he started to dog him, when Chloe my little cocker/toy poodle came out of the room and growled and stared him down then he ran off to the kitchen to hide under the table. Chloe seems to know that Reagan is giving Chito a bad time, also they used to sleep together on my daughters Cal King bed and now Reagan will not let Chito get on the bed. He will do everything in his power to keep him off, he’s afraid of Chloe but not of Chito and it dosen’t make any sense. Meanwhile Chito hides behind Chloe and they say pitts are aggressive, but they haven’t met our pitt yet. I took Reagan to the vet just to be on the safe side and doc gave the A-OK healthwise, but attitude wise he says don’t let him get away with it. I seem to have a problem

Just the the person I want to speak to. I found a hamster in the dumpster where I leave he was still in the habitrail, I felt so bad I deceided to keep him and apparently he was just a baby because after mos of having him he has grown so big. His name is Arnold and he is a teddy bear. My problem is he’s bored and spoiled. I recently bought him another cage this time a 3 tier cage and as long as a 10 gal tank. He’s all over it and he definitely loves it. However he will not use his new wheel. I bought him the silent spinner size 8. with no holes to get his feed stuck in so yesterday I went out and bought him another wheel which is a 8.5 mesh and now he uses all the time. I hear that hamsters can develop something called bumble feet from using these wheels is this true, also he won’t eat his hamster food all he wants is his veggies and bananna chips and other goodies. What am I doing wrong, we have had Arnold for atleast 8 mos or so give or take a month, only recently is he starting to get picky.

If I could give you 5 stars I would, but I definitely agree with you, abrubtly changing any animals food can and will most likely upset their digestive system, just like us humans. Give me something to eat that I’m not used to and I guarantee I will get an upset stomach (lead me to the pepto). I thought that dry food would bulk up the stool, am I wrong.
