I contacted Iams Pet Foods with three simple questions. (1) who their Pet Care and Nutrional Specialist were and what were their credentials. (2) Why they were using brewers rice, chicken by-product, fish meal, and corn meal. (3) Just who are your scientists and what protocols do they use during formulation and checking for Aflatoxin, DON Vomitoxin, Melamine and Cyanuric acid?
What I got was the Proctor & Gamble big corporation two-step. Read it by clicking the below link then viewing Iams company profile.I think that it is a poor do when the company cant answer questions about what they are claiming to do, and that point that vets recommend them means nothing to me, I dont know who these vets are, what they know about nutrition or what they are told to/paid to think, when I see a new pet food on the market that claims to be designed by qualified nutritionalists I believe that it is still down to the owner to decide what is best for their pet. As for Iams Ive heard so many bad things about them, but if there was no demand for their pet food them they wouldnt be still operating after this long. Its a buisness to Iams and most other pet food companies, if the demand for cheap food goes down and owners start buying better quality foods then all pet food companies will either have to match this of go out of buisness. I know it sounds harsh but its down to the people who are willing to buy Iams and other low ranking pet foods not just the companies.

Their testing facilities and treatment of lab animals has been under fire for some time. I sent them an email quite a long time ago regarding the treatment of dogs in their labs….of course they denied everything…hard to deny taped evidence though.
Animal lovers don’t treat animals the way that their animals have been treated. I was very saddened by the whole thing.
