The cage my rats have now is fine, but I wanted to upgrade it since it has wire floors and I was concerned about their little feet getting caught, or them getting bumblefoot. The best cage I could find that had what I wanted was a ferret cage, and I was wondering if rats could be housed comfortably in a ferret cage? (I was mostly concerned about them escaping through the bars) I have attached a picture of the cage I was interested in. Any ideas?

It depends on the size of your rats. My 2 large males are housed in a ferret cage and they are quite comfortable. One thing you can consider doing is zip-tying linoleum to the floors of the cage you have now. I did this with my wire-floored cage and it has worked out quite well for me and my boys.

Id advise the Freddy2 cage from Pets At Home. It is excellent for our two rats but they are small. Your idea looks fab though.
