??? ::)Hi i;m a bit concerned about the hair on my springer spaniel, cause she’s 5 months old and she’s chocolate color with a bit of white under her chin and chest and she’s got new hair growing on her hind legs and front and on the ears, but they are growing rust color, so she has like a 2 color figure apart from the white. Is this normal on a springer. Will the color come out evenly when she gets older? Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like your dog is loosing her puppy coat (this is about the right time) and her adult coat is coming in. There can be color variations from the puppy coat to the adult coat. Also, if your dog spends a lot of time in the sun, this can cause color fading or rusting (like a black dog going bronze in areas from sunburn). Also, longer coats can be a bit lighter than the shorter hair on the rest of the dog. Just give it time for the puppy coat to shed out and the adult to come in. Brush out loose coat and keep the skin and coat healthy with a good diet and proper grooming. It is not uncommon at all as puppies mature into adulthood for coat color to change slightly. It may be a few years until the final dog is matured into.
