Smiler..where do you get your information? Are you a breeder? It is common practice to have sows share a cage especially when they are bred or near ready to deliver. A cavie will nurse any baby that comes to her for the most part so it is consiered a good practice to aleways have two sows deliver close together. that way if one has too many baies and not enough milk the other sow can help. A sow breeding right after delivering wil not die!! That is just BS. with any pregnancy, there are risks and the risks do increase if bred too close together. I am sure I am not the only one who left a male in the cage too long and the sow delivered and was bred right away. It happens, even to seasoned veterens. Most of the people I learned from had been breeding for 15 or more years and rasing beautiful BIS cavies. I think they knew what they are doing
