Everyone please go to this website and check you pets food against this list. The story just hit the news here in PA. I think it is limited to the "cuts and gravy"style of canned food, but please read the press release to be sure.
Mar 17, 2007 at 4:14 #489597I’ve never been so happy that my dogs are on vet food. What’s going on with these products, I only caught the tail end of the news report.
Mar 19, 2007 at 3:26 #489598Sorry…there was an iternational recall for certian brand of canned food packaged by menu food. the other link takes you to the recall site
Mar 21, 2007 at 3:05 #489599Okay..not trying to be rude..but I posted this first thing in the morning on Saturday when it hit the news…everyone who is concerned, please check the UPC on your cans at home and the lot numbers..it is not necessarilary limited to the cuts and gravy style…Please check and please stop reposting this..it’s been done at least 6 times by now. thank you
Apr 2, 2007 at 8:47 #489600ALPO has also recall certain canned varieties as a precaution but to a possible bad batch of wheat gluten.
Apr 2, 2007 at 9:35 #489601get a life. you’re annoying as he** with your self-righetous posts such as "I don’t mean to be rude…….BUT…..I posted this first… What is this, kindergarten! get over yourself girl!
Apr 2, 2007 at 9:43 #489602I take everything very serously when it come to the health of people’s pets: Since I did originally posted this on the 17th around 8am..no one respoded..kinda of annoying since it IS important! Then there are six other posts outhere that didn’t even have the right info on them, therefore putting other pets at risk. So yeah I think This should have been given more attention than it was..Menu Food has the full ists and upc codes and since they are the ones who manufacture the food they would know. Seeing the otherposts with misinformation is not only iritating, but unsafe, and now even some of the Hills Rx forumulas have been added to this list. It’s absolutley amazing how it take six different posts with different information to get people to listen…one should be enough!
Apr 2, 2007 at 9:49 #489603wow! you type fast!
Apr 2, 2007 at 9:51 #489604Only when I get upset, but then I tend to make more mistakes *grin*
Apr 2, 2007 at 11:35 #489605I work in PR and part of my job is coaching companys on crisis communication. The way that Menu has handled this whole situation is what makes me the most angry. I have yet to see them apologize, offer condolences to those who have lost pets or show any senstivity at all. Poor way to do business. I like the presidents message on Nutro’s Web site. It is imformative and doesn’t concentrate on deflecting blame. It clearly illustrates the steps Nutro is taking to fix the situation and most of all, it is senstive and apologetic. Menu could learn a lesson from them. Here is the link if anyone wants to read it. It certainly boosts by confidence in the brand.
Apr 3, 2007 at 12:09 #489606rk, time for you to think about a new career.
Apr 3, 2007 at 12:15 #489607What do you mean by that?
Apr 3, 2007 at 7:09 #489610Wolfwitch – get over yourself, this topic has been brought up in other posts. I also brought it up on a post where someone’s dog was sick and warned them it was probably because of the recalled food (posted March 17th). Another site where the dog had died. To Anna and others using Rx food – just because you have a food through a vet, ex: Hills science diet Rx, it was also recalled! I have been putting down Hills forever because it contains corn and wheat which both can cause allergies and other problems. Now we have proof that they are using the exact same ingredients as Purina, Alpo and the other cheapo brands. When buying dog foods READ THE INGREDIENTS, all natural, better yet ORGANIC is the way to go. Wheat and corn are a NO-NO, rice is better as a carb, real meat for protein not corn. I switched to Natural Balance (Dick Van Patten) in November because my dog had allergies. I thank GOD that I switched just before this all happened.
Apr 3, 2007 at 5:55 #489608OMG!!!! Listen to you all. Pathetic.
Apr 3, 2007 at 7:39 #489609Only ONE Hill’s prescription diet has been recalled. That is feline m/d -dry (canned m/d contains no wheat gluten). Why don’t you people get your facts straight before bashing an entire line of food????? It’s not that I’m a huge advocate of Hills’ foods. In fact, I feed Purina ProPlan and Eukanuba to my dogs (except for the old one who does get Hill’s prescription diet j/d) I just feel it’s terribly irresponsible of you all to potentially ruin a company’s reputation due to misinformation.
