I like the rating system. I just hope it doesn’t end up being abused as I’ve seen happen on so many other forums. One thing I don’t like is… I can’t see the reply that I just made to a topic. "??" Yet, above the thread it says "This topic has been viewed 68 times, has 2 replies and 2 subscribers." Actually, I can’t see either of the 2 replies. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Sorry about the double post… I just wanted to say that I had no problems reading the replies in this thread, including my own. And there after I hit submit, I got this message.. "Action Successful:
– Thank You – Your Reply Has Been Added At The End Of This Topic." I got that message on the other topic too. "??"DiamondTiger – you arer right there does indeed seem to be a bug with certain replies. We’re looking into this as I speak.
I’m suprised how few of you have been rating replies – is everyone a little nervous about being the first to use this feature? It is anonymous in case that’s not obvious.Thank you, I hope it’s nothing too serious and that y’all can fix it soon. 🙂 As for the rating system, y’all asked for honesty so here goes. I can only speak for myself when I say that I don’t think I’ll be using the rating system much, because I feel that it won’t make a difference in how certain topics/posts are viewed, or posters for that matter. For example, the very hot topic "Wrong Breed Blamed Again"… there were some excellent posts in that thread. Now while I understand that you all had your reasons for locking it, I don’t believe that the entire thread should have been deleted. Had this rating system been in place when that thread was available, I probably would have used it quite a bit. Since it was deleted though, anyone who may have been rated on their reply(s) within would ultimately lose their rank. So… to be honest, I don’t really care whether my posts are rated or not… and I can’t say that I would rate another post, because I can’t be sure that the rating will stick. I hope that makes sense, and I hope too that I haven’t offended anyone by saying this.

I just rated yours, Daphne….I guess for me, I’m just a little hesitant to rate someones opinion..everyone has a right to their own. 🙂I think the only time I would use it would be if there was a really great reply. Or if I was asking a question and I got some replies. Diamond I agree it would have been a mess in that post. Maybe we’ll warm up to it after time.
Thanks for all your feedback. The slight bug has now been fixed – thanks for your patience.
With regard to the rating system, you should note that the potential for abuse is not very big because the lowest rank someone can have is a Junior Member, even if people are abusing the ranking system. We developed this system in response to many, many people who complained that people should not be ranked highly because of just the number of replies they make.
Like you say, the ideal use for the system is to rate messages that really stand out to you. We’re hoping that after a couple of months the ratings activity will average out to make the forum a more useful place.I wish we could have more pics on our profiles—-I want to put pictures of all of my furry babies! 🙁 You should work on this, Daphne….. 🙂

I havent been on the site for a while but I like the ranking system. If somebody has written exaclty what I am thinking then I can give them a good rating, and the poster will know that other people agree with their reply 🙂
