Zapotec Wool Rug / TapestryHand Loomed
This is a beautiful, colorful, hand loomed Zapotec Indian wool rug. Measures 58 inches by 31 inches. Weighs 2 pounds, 14 ounces. It has a wool pile on a traditional cotton warp by the Zapotec Indians indigenous to Oaxaca, Mexico.
It is unique in that it is made with bright pastel colors, blues, greens, yellows, oranges. Zapotec weavers used colorful dyes and the result is stunning. Use as a floor rug or maybe a tapestry wall hanging.
The Zapotec and Navajo share many of the same designs. This is a very traditional design used by both the Navajo and the Zapotec. It is said the only difference between Navajo and Zapotec rugs is the fringe and the price. A comparable Navajo rug would sell for $400.00+.
Condition is excellent. No holes, tears, unusual wear. Very competitively priced with free shipping to 48. E-mail me with any questions. Check out my E-bay store for more rugs. Thanks for looking.
