One person can assemble in minutes without any tools.    When done using the pen, it disassembles super easy, compact, flat and light for storage between uses. 

My husband made this for me and this whelping/weaning pen worked BETTER than I could have hoped for... It is as sturdy and durable as the wooden pens but it is lighter and much better for sanitation, use and storage!  It has been super easy to assemble/ disassemble.  My 6 year old neighbor can do it by himself.  It is made of a safe non-porous material(like  cutting boards) that is easy to disinfect and keep sanitary before, during and after whelping and weaning.

The safety pig rails are hanging with no support posts under them which can be a hazard.  Similar to a kitchen cupboard shelf. If the rails have supports under them and they are permanently attached to the walls they create an area where the mother dog can accidently crush the puppies.  

It comes with a heavy duty plastic liner that the entire box sits on top of to protect the floor area under the pen.

The best part was the add on room!  When the puppies were first born I used it to keep all of my whelping/puppy supplies organized and close at hand.  Prior to this they would inevitably be knocked over or just out of my reach. It also provides mom with a place to take a break; get away from the puppies but still be close enough to watch them.

When the puppies were getting around and weaning, I removed my supplies and the door. I then line it with potty pads or newspaper. Immediately after the pups eat and any other time pups began to relieve themselves, I would move them to this area.  It does not take long at all and the pups have a headstart on potty training!

I really liked that the potty area was physically  separated from the eating/playing area by a short wall.  Easy for pups to get over but tall enough to keep them from accidentally rolling/stepping in 💩 while playing. 

It also has a heavy plastic liner underneath the whole pen. The entire pen sits on top of the plastic to protect the floor from any accidental leaks from bedding, puppy pads or newspaper.  It makes changing out the bedding/newspaper multiple times a day more convenient and protects the flooring underneath.
