Ceratopteris siliquosa, Water Sprite Laceleaf
Ceratopteris siliquosa is suitable for use as a floating or underwater plant. Small plantlets can form on a leaf margin if it is allowed to float on the water surface. These plantlets can be removed and replanted. In good light, it grows fast and helps prevent algae by consuming large amounts of nutrients. This makes it a good starter plant in large aquariums. The roots of the floating plant provide good protection for young fish.
