These are great AM receivers. With this adapter installed, they become great SSB receivers as well. All controls work as before, and AM performance remains the same.You plug the unit into the detector/AVC rectifier tube socket, remove some small components, and connect two or (optionally) three wires. When the BFO is turned on, the single-balanced product detector and dual-time-constant AVC circuit are switched in automatically. With the BFO off, a diode detector and AVC rectifier take over and the existing AVC amplifier circuit is used.A small 12-volt DC supply operating from the filament supply operates the muting relay when the receiver is used with a transmitter or transceiver.Some under-the-chassis work is required. We recommend that you go download the owner\'s manual before buying. This is about a 1 megabyte file, so it may take some time to come down on a slow Internet connection.We\'ll also be glad to respond to questions.
