Outstanding Rare Antique Aquarium Terrarium Brass, Glass with Oak Stand Cabinet:
$1500.00

Outstanding rare brass and glass antique aquarium / terrarium and stand. The aquarium sits on its antique oak stand that has a small cabinet in it. I would estimate the aquarium to be from the late 1800\'s to the early 1900\'s. There is a copper tray on the bottom of the aquarium that drops down about 1 1/2\" into the oak stand. Fitting for a brass and glass aquarium the stand has brass and glass \"casters\", instead of wheels there are 3\" glass disc that the aquarium and cabinet easily slides on. The tank has four original solid brass finials about 2 3/4\" tall. This tank and stand are definitely rare and desirable items and would retail in thousands of dollars. The Tank by itself measure 31 1/8\" wide, 15 1/2\" deep and 21\" tall from the bottom of the copper tray to the top of the finials. The oak stand measures 36\" wide, 20 1/2\" deep and 33 1/2\" tall. The tank on the stand is 52 1/2\" tall. The oak stand looks like it has been refinished at some point but it is old / antique. I do not know if the stand was original to the tank or custom made for it at a later date. The wood in the stand is old it has some shrinkage and imperfections but the stand is sturdy has a great color and overall a great look to it. Inside the cabinet compartment on the bottom and towards the back of the stand there are three holes in the wood that were made for some purpose at some time. There are several holes in the wood stand underneath where the tank sits. Also there are two holes in the bottom of the copper tray (See Pictures 7,8,9). The last owner had new glass put in the tank and the there is now glass on the bottom of the tank above the copper tray. All of the glass looks good and seems tight. I was told by the last owner that the tank was water tight but I have never put water in it to check. I believe that a newer cover was used over the top of the tank at some time. In the last two pictures you can see the top brass edges have some crud on them. When I lightly scratch that area I can see bright brass color underneath. I believe the tops edges can be polished-out. Also a magnate does not stick to any metal on this tank there is no rust from iron on it. PLEASE READ VERY IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION: The aquarium and stand are being sold as local pick up only.
