LARGE QUEEN VICTORIA DIAMOND JUBILEE COMMEMORATIVE PANEL – NO RESERVE (95):
$52.90

Offeredwithout reserveand a very low starting price is a very attractive cotton panel commemorating the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897.

This is actually the third one of these I have posted to ; however this one has much brighter colors than the previous two; and the portraits are in color, not black and white, although somewhat faded over the years. It does, however, have some minor foxing in the white panels depicting personalities.

In typical Victorian style, there’s a lot going on here!

This large (approximately 29 x 26 1/2 inches) panel or flag has a central image of the Queen in formal attire wearing the Imperial crown, surmounted by a Royal coat of arms with Lion and Unicorn. Beneath the image are the dates 1837 and 1897, being her coronation and diamond Jubilee years. In the top left is an image of the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VIII, with the Princess of Wales, later Queen Alexandra, in the top right. A banner running between the two claims “World Wide Empire”, under which are called out the countries West Indies, Egypt, Canada, India, Africa, Australia and China (yep – China was once classed as a British colony!).

Underneath the image of the Queen is written “Queen Victoria Empress of India”. Beneath this are three images, portraying Princess May, Prince Edward of York and the Duke of York. To the right and left of the image of Victoria are various British flags and standards. The border looks to me like some kind of Indian pattern print. The colors (primarily red) are good; and the images are still very clear. As noted above, there is some minor foxing in the panels depicting characters. For 120 years old – awesome condition.

Please see the photos, which form a part of the description.

Original Royal memorabilia of this age and in this condition is becoming increasingly difficult to find. and no buy it now price – it WILL sell. And it really would look superb in a gilt frame with some exhibition glass, with or without matting. A wonderful, early Royal collectible.

Good luck if you decide to offer. I will be putting quite a few other royal items from my collection up for sale over the coming weeks. You might want to follow me for a while if you are a serious collector.
