George Rodrigue\'s works are collected and exhibited the world over and in this piece, he has created a confident portrait of America\'s vigorous leaders striding purposefully into the 21st century.

This richly colored allegory has Congress at their side as the sun rises on the third American century. Rodrigue\'s signature Blue Dog icon has joined them on their American Journey.

The Blue dog in his paintings is attributed to his deceased dog named Tiffany and influenced by the Loup Garou legend—the first painting in the series bears the titleLoup Garou(a Cajun werewolf).

Over the past two decades, it has made its way into billboards, posters and street signs, into Absolut Vodka and Xerox advertisements. The Blue Dog is featured in the inaugural portrait of President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore, included by the artist at Clinton’s personal request. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it became the image of the national campaign to raise funds for the disaster relief. His symbol helped coin the term Blue Dog Democrat, which refers to a conservative member of the Democratic Party.
