For sale is a pair of Fostex FE208 Sigma (1st Generation) Twincone Fullrange (8\"/200mm)

speaker drivers, I think from the early 1990\'s...

These are rated for music power to 100W, and with 96.5db 1W/1m (3.3ft) sensitivity for low power SE tube amp applications... (See spec sheet in photos)

These drivers are the scarce, more desirable, earlier 1st generation FE 208 series model, preferred by Dick Olsher in his original BassZilla speaker system... (Read his reviews and comments on this driver.) Also used by Nelson Pass, Cain & Cain, and in speaker designs such as Jericho, Sachico, Dallas I & II, Nagaoaka, Blumenstein, Schmacks, Frugal Horn designs (+ others), and used in TQWP, MLTL, Horn, and Open Baffle systems... (Compare to the present FE208EZ... These are much preferred over the new drivers)

These have been carefully used by myself, and first owned by an older audiophile. They are previously broken-in, so the break-in period should be much shorter...

I used them for several weeks testing on a Open Baffle test panel, (powered by a nice SE low powered tube amp in my system) and they sounded GREAT!!!! Very open and lively, with an excellent soundstage... Very natural sounding voices... And they could play much louder than I would ever listen to on my system (on my 5W amp)... A LOT of fun to listen to!!!! They made me smile!!!! (But I never got around to building a speaker system around them...)

These (2) drivers are in almost like new, very nice condition, with maybe some nearly invisible handling/mounting marks... (I\'m being VERY picky, here...) There is some almost invisible lint/dust stuck to the surrounds... The 2 VC\'s measure 6.5/6.4 ohms... There is some solder and a tiny bit of scratching on or near the terminals from the previous owner... One speaker has a little bump in the soft surround pleat, but will probably pop back after use... (No effect on excursion) No VC rubbing... No stains on cones... Maybe a little dust here or there... Surrounds not stiff, but nice and flexible... Speakers are stock and have not been modified... Speakers come in factory boxes/packaging...

Units are sold as-is, and nothing else is included... Speakers will be well packed, and double boxed for shipping... No returns...

I\'m sorry to see them go, but I had to move to a smaller place with a much smaller listening room, and I don\'t have a wood shop here to build speakers... But I know that these will make someone VERY Happy!!!!
