Here is a CLASSIC NAVAJO BANDED CHINLE SINGLE SADDLE BLANKET FROM THE NAVAJO RESERVATION DATING FROM ABOUT 1940 (1935-1945), HAND WOVEN WITH HAND SPUN AND HAND CARDED, AS WELL AS HAND DYED NAVAJO CHURRO SHEEP WOOLS. THESE OLD SINGLE SADDLE BLANKETS ARE GETTING MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND AND THE BANDED BLANKETS ARE THE CLASSIC NAVAJO STYLE.The size of this textile is approximately31\" X 30\",with a hand spun woolwarp of about 8, and a hand spun Wool Weft of about 34-36!A beautifully designed, well constructed piece of Native America! EXCELLENT CONDITIONFOR AGE (Please see all pics!): The wools within this rug are in great condition and theweaving isstructurally sound, there NO Fading, NO Stains, NO Bleeding of Dyes, NO Bug/Moth Damage and NO fraying. There is one very small hole (smaller than standard pencil eraser end diameter).The End Selvage Cords are 95% present and intact, a braid of two thick 3-ply grey wool yarns (1 small are of break/fray about 1\" long).The Side Selvage Warps are intact and 100% present,with no fraying or loss to side edges. The corners are in excellent condition, and the 4/4 the corner ties are all present with some wear due to time and use (see pic of corners).
GREAT COLORS - RED, BLUE, GREEN AND BROWN REPEATING CHEVRONS, AND WHITE AND GREY BANDS WITH BROWN AND GREY TRIM.
WHEN PLACED ON A HORSE THE BANDS WOULD SIT PARALLEL TO THE HORSE\'S SPINE, THE RUG BEING CENTERED ON THE HORSES BACK, AND OFF YOU GO!
THIS IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS VERY WELL AS A WALL HANGER - (SEE PICS).
