Antique Black Cloth Rag Doll - Black Americana - Folk Art For Sale -

I recently purchased a trunk filled with antique dolls straight out of an antique home so if you are a collector please keep checking my other sales as I will be listing more.

This sale is for an absolutely stunning antique doll. She is beautiful handmade cloth black doll. The doll’s face appears to made from an old sock or stocking. Her eyes look to be shoe button eyes. Her body appears to stuffed with horse hair stuffing.

I do not know the exact age of the doll although I am certain that she was made sometime in the 1800’s.

The doll measures approx. 21” tall

The condition of the doll is good but she does have some issues. Both arms are torn at the wrists, both hands are still attached but you can see her horse hair stuffing inside. I did not try to mend her, I will leave that decision to her new owners. Her face has some wear on the cheeks where the stocking has become a bit threadbare over the years. In my opinion this does nothing to detract from her beauty and if anything only enhances it showing how loved she has been for generations.

Her clothing is very sweet and mostly intact although it does have some tears. Please see all photos for condition.

I can’t really say enough about this doll and how special she is.. her expression is so kind and lifelike. The love that was put into the making of this doll is just so evident that it literally pours out of her.
