Malachite often results from weathering of copper ores andis often found together with azurite (Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2 ,a blue secondarymineral of copper), goethite, and calcite. Malachite can be found in Russia,Zaire, Australia, and Namibia. In the United States, specimens have beenfound in the copper mines of Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Pennsylvania,and Tennessee.
