Mystery Snails
Mystery snails make a great addition to any freshwater aquarium because of their peaceful temperament and assortment of color. Snails do a great job at cleaning up excessive algae that builds up on glass and any leftover food that drops to the bottom of the aquarium. Hard water and calcium supplementation will help promote strong healthy shells. Crushed coral, cuddle bones and food high in calcium are all recommended. Mystery snails will eat a variety of foods including homemade snello, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables. All Mystery snails will arrive without water and need to be acclimated to their new aquarium right away. Due to stress of shipping and change of environment it is normal for them to take a day or two to peak out of their shells. Only be alarmed if a shell is empty or the snail floats when put into your aquarium. We recommend putting no more than 1 snail per 2 gallons. Overcrowding will cause stress to snails resulting in inactive snails and ultimately death.

ACCLIMATION PROCESS:
Do Not Net Fish! (Netting can strip the slime coat off the fish)
Step 1:Pour entire contents from the shipping bag into a clean fishsafe bucket. (Should be able to hold 3-4 times the amount of water shipped with the fish.)
Step 2: Add an appropriate amount of a stress relieving, ammonia reducing, and slime coat protective product such as Stress Guard by Seachem.
Step 3: Start a siphon using an airline tube from the aquarium they are going into, to the acclimation bucket the fish are in.
Step 4: Set the drip rate to 1-2 drips/second using an inline valve or tie the airline tube in a knot if a valve is not available. (Siphon kit is available as separate listing).
Step 5:After about 1hr increase the drip rate by 1-2 drips/second.
Step 6: When the volume of water in the acclimation bucket gets close to the top, discard 1/4-1/2 the water in the acclimation bucket.
Step 7:Repeat steps 5 & 6, 1 time for every .2 change in PH from the shipping water to the aquarium water. (Shipping water PH = 8.5) If your aquarium water is 7.5 the difference is 1.0 (1.0/.2 =5 hrs of acclimation)
Step 8:On the last time discarding water from the acclimation bucket drain the bucket down to a point where the fish just has enough water to cover its body.
Step 9: Sit the shipping bucket sideways into the aquarium and allow the fish to freely swim into the aquarium.
