12 in QRK 3 Speed (capstan) Direct-drive Broadcast Turntable No 1 ca1950-1970:
$495.00

For sale: A very nice vintage QRK 3-Speed (via capstan steps) DIrect Drive turntable, wildly popularduring the days of records & AM Radio. This is the 12 inch version (12S) by QRK who manufacturedthese under their own name as well as Collins, Gates and others. Speeds are capstan selectable inRPM increments of 33 rpm, 45 rpm & 78 rpm. Note the small pilot for the record center as well as theslight depression for 45\'s. I have a pair of these; this sale is for the first one I am calling No. 1. Neitherone have tone-arms. This turntable is QRK 12S Serial Number 3097. The other turntable to be listed lateris QRK 12S Serial Number 3098. It has very little wear on the bearings. When you set the platter downin place, it rides a couple of inches high at first because of trapped air in the bearing housing ! After aminute it settles in place by rotating it slowly by hand.
Condition: The nicest I have ever seen and I have seen many of these. The motor is quiet & drive trainis smooth. The Lord\'s isolation mounts are in-tact and the speed changes work as they should. Designedto leave the drive wheel in stand-by by parking the speed change on a detent between speeds. Thisprevents wheel flats & allows forcueing. We have no method at present of checking the speed calibrationbut a strobe disk might provide you with this information (not supplied). There is a plastic tone-arm pivotwasher (or whatever its called) but there is no tone-arm supplied with this. The motors are Bodine: thebest of the best. The base is some sort of hardwood in good condition with handles on two sides. Heavy.
Terms: Sold as a vintage collectible suitable for reuse in the right hands and strictly as-is.
Shipping: This is a large & heavy item that must be double-boxed if it is have any chance of arriving safely. We ship FedEx Ground which has the best track record to date for heavy items.
