Dachiemum's Profile
Hi, my name is Valerie and I live in a suburb of Sydney, N.S.W., Australia, with my husband Phillip. I am owned by a miniature long haired dachshund named Marty (see his picture) he is 13 1/2 years old and my darling dog. Unfortunately we lost 2 dogs this year, one a min. LH Dachshund Lisa who had a stroke in September and two a min. poodle who had had problems with his legs for some time until it got so bad we had to make THE DECISION, both these doggies were 15 1/2 years old. I have been owned by dachshunds since 1959 and have bred, exhibited and loved both standard smooth and min. long haired dachies until 1990 when I retired from the hectic world of exhibiting and breeding and am now just love them. I had a min. long haired dachshund Danny who had to be euthanised a day before his 20th birthday. He holds the record in the Dachshund Club of NSW for being the longest living dachie, this record he has held for 25 years. Apart from dachies, my next love is reading crime novels. I also watch a lot of TV and am on the computer for an hour or two each day.
Unfortunately my darling Marty died in April, 2011 after a massive seizure, he was just over 15 years. I will never forget him as he was my soul mate. In October this year we adopted a 2 year old black and cream min. long haired dachie, his name is Andy and he is a delight, we realise now how our life had been empty since Marty left us. He is gorgeous, he is an individual and will not be compared to Marty. Although I still occasionally call him Marty.
I now have a long haired dachshund called Dandy Andy, who is a delightful dog and one of the nicest I have been owned by.
We hope to be adding a black min. poodle to our family in September, 2015.
