Are Slugs A Danger To Rabbits?

Recently we have been finding large slugs feeding from the rabbits dried food bowl. Are they a danger to the rabbits? Can we stop them?

I would not advise allowing slugs to get into your rabbit’s food bowl, as they can spread diseases as bacteria are attracted to their slimy trail. They may also be signs of damp, which can be a factor in rabbit respiratory diseases, for example.

I would suggest that you provide some rabbit safe barrier for the slugs that will stop them getting into the hutch, such as gravel around the hutch, metallic rings on the hutch legs, beer traps.
