How do we decide which pictures to
publish?
Since we receive several hundred pictures per
week, we only publish between 10 and 20% off those
we receive. Pictures may be published up to 2
weeks after you submitted them - do not always
expect them to be published the same update as the
week you submitted. Most of the time our decision is based
on the quality of picture - not your pet itself. For
example, in the pictures below you can see that in
the picture on the left the animal itself is not
very clear and is not the overriding focus of the
picture.
We will generally publish well-lit, clear photos
where your pet is the main feature of the photo and
there are no distracting reflections or shadows
(like the second picture above).
Other reasons your picture may not be published
In general, we have to eliminate many pictures
which are good enough for publishing. Because
the gallery is provided as a service for our readers
and is not our core business, we cannot invest too
much time into it. It is irrelevant if your picture
is better than other pictures in the same breed
gallery - what's important is how it compares to
others submitted the same week and how many are
submitted.
Why can't I find the picture I sent you?
If your pet has been published and you can't
find it in the gallery please consider the
following:
Did
you specify what breed the animal was? Because it's
not always clear we may not have been able to
determine the breed. Check the 'mixed' or 'other'
sections for the pet-type you submitted
Likewise,
if we don't have a gallery for your breed of pet, it
will be listed under 'other' in the appropriate
section. For example, unusual purebred dog breeds
If
your photo featured a child or person in the picture
the photo may be listed in the Pets
and their People Gallery
