Congratulations, Dale, The wonderful bonded duo won the Pet of he Week award. Both took a great picture here. I also will miss Buddy in your pictures from now on, but he is not forgotten and I am sure you feel his spirit often these days. You still have lots of love around you from your other rescues. Buddy and the others could not have been luckier than to have got you as a "rescuer" and to care and love for them until death. Sorry to hear of the death of one of your beloved fur kids, the loss of a furkid never gets easier, but in time the pain lessens, think of all the fun times you had together. I have shared my life with many dachshunds from 1960 and many times I have lost a beloved doggie, but life does go on, even though you feel the loss every day. It is over 12 months since I lost Marty but still see him in various places of our home, and I sometimes call Andy, Marty!

This photo is of Annie (on left) and Buddy. They were both former foster dogs with serious fear issues when I first fostered/adopted them. I think it is the reason they developed such a close bond. When Buddy first came here in 2003 he spent the first two days hiding under a table. As time went on he learned that his days of being mistreated were over and that people can be kind to him. Within a year he regained his confidence and it was great to see him enjoy himself and not be fearful. It was at this time that Buddy started giving me "the look" that said how happy he was and how much he loved me. A day didn't go by that I didn't let him know how special he was to me too. Buddy passed away on 5-3-12 and my dogs and I miss him every day. Happy trails my little friend!
