Mixed Breed (Ginger) Cat Picture #4836

This is Ziggy ~ he's 3-4 years of age and is an affectionate ginger & white colored boy with a ringed tail AND one blue & one gold eye as you can see in this photo I took on 9-20-09. He was rescued by my S-I-L who found him almost frozen to death, lying on a sidewalk in January 2007; it was 13 degrees out that day. She brought him to her vet to be examined. She named him Ziggy Stardust (for the David Bowie character in the 1970's - who appeared to have 2 different color eyes - but he really didn't - it was an eye injury that made his pupil remain dialated). After calling the police & humane society to see if any "lost pets" had been called in (and left her phone number in case someone did call), she kept him for 6 weeks but since she already had 5 rescued cats, she had to find him a home; he wasn't neutered & was chasing her female cats. I thought of a 33 year old bachelor who needed a cat and he agreed to take him after he was neutered (that was a cooperative effort with yet another friend & her vet doing it at a reduced cost & we all chipped in to pay for it). The vet said that many cats with 2 different color eyes are often deaf in the ear that's on the side of the blue eye. He's not ~ he hears everything! It turns out that he had escaped when animal control came to take the many cats that lived with an elderly woman who ended up in a nursing home. He's a lucky boy in so many ways !
