Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Shannon C. - Georgia The Arabian horse is the oldest and purest of all horse breeds, and comes in every color except spotted and pinto. They are most well known for endurance, racing, and "improving" other breeds, but there is so much more to Arabians than that. Arabians appear delicate, but they are strong and muscular, and can exceed in ANY discipline. Arabians are also have one less vertebrae, in the back and in the tail, and one less rib than any other breed.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Liz Anderson - Nevada I personally own an Arabian and I love them to death! They are great horses very smart and intelligent. They have very beautiful looks and nice gaits with some or no training. I barrel race, rope, do competitive trail riding, some jumping and English work but almost all round western. Arabians are very nice horses. They are loyal to just about everyone. Some, such as my horse, only trust some who she/he knows. It takes a little work but wit TLC they aren't too skittish. A lot of western people I have talked to say that Arabians are crazy but that's just because the horse was either bred hot or they just don't know the breed well enough. I would recommend an Arab for an intermediate-pro if the horse is calm enough then maybe a beginner. They are great horses and I absolutely ADORE them!
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Jen H - Indiana I currently own 3 Arabians and 1 half-arab/saddlebred. My 31-year old has been a trusted trail horse and is now an occasional children's mount. He also worked with cattle. My 6-year old went to the buttes of Nebraska for a 4-day trail ride with only 6 months under saddle. Arabians have personality + and are very reliable horses. I trust my life with them on the trail. They are known as the versatile horse because they can do virtually anything you ask of them. They are typically larger in size these days. My 6-year old stands 15.1 and is a chestnut roan.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Julia Graham - Arizona The Arabian horse, in all its nobility, grace and loyalty, is by far the most tractable horse of all horse breeds. The Bedouin tribe treasured these horses to the point that they resided in their tents and were close companions to their masters. Only the best of the best mares were used as war mounts. These horses proved themselves worthy of any task asked of them. They are gentle, intelligent, loyal and willing partners. They are the purest of breeds and helped create our modern light breeds of horse, from Quarter Horses to Thoroughhbreds. While they are spirited animals they aren't difficult to handle. In my humble opinion, these horses make great companions to children and adults alike. My three Arabians adore children and are very gentle around anyone, including perfect strangers. These horses are used as pleasure mounts, endurance mounts, racing, English, western, barrel racing, or anything you ask them to do. The endurance of these horses is unbeatable. They are a breed apart and are very distinguishable if grouped with other breeds. All horses are beautiful, but the animated beauty of the Arabian is unequaled.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Pam Dors - Virginia As a breeder of these fine creatures I am a bit taken back by the listings for what an Arab is capable of. The Arabian Breed horse shows are one of only a handful of breed shows that have every discipline offered at one show. EVERYTHING from Western Pleasure and open jumpers to reining, cow work and Dressage to sidesaddle and driving to Park Horse and walk trot. We are the only breed that offers it's own Youth Nationals. We are also the ONLY breed that allows juniors to handle our stallions, that says something. We are a very proud bunch of people, us Arab breeders and owners and would love to share our horses with you!
