I have had Tony my rescue Westie for three years now and he is the love of my life. I've always had dogs but Tony is the best. He is 12 yrs old now but still going strong and you'd never guess his age. Unfortunately he has the Westie skin problems but I make his food now and it seems to be under control. Cutting down on the wheat in his diet has made a huge difference as many commercial foods are high in wheat. I keep his body hair short (and his legs long) and that also seems to help with the skin problems. He is also a bit deaf but that at times seems to be selective deafness! (LINEBREAK)Westies are smart, loyal and lovable. Tony adores his cats and gets along with other dogs. They need lots of exercise and love socializing. Living in France is great in that I can take him anywhere as well as into restaurants. He's quite put out when I have a "no dogs" thing to do. (LINEBREAK)I would recommend a West Highland White Terrier to anyone looking for a smallish, easy to train, interesting pet.
