Willow, my 7 month old female is an absolute joy. When I first began researching the breed, I was a bit apprehensive about getting one because they are reported as being strong-willed and difficult, and prone to separation anxiety. However, she has not been that way at all. She practically housetrained herself in about 2 weeks. She is intelligent and easily learns commands. Willow is a people pleaser. She shares her home with 2 mini Dachshunds, and even that has not been a problem except Willow wants to play more than they do. Willow has been crate trained - the crate has become her security and her comfort zone. A large yard or a daily walk/run is a necessity for Weimaraners. My 6 year old male, Buddy, is the most wonderful dog you can imagine. I'm always surprised when I read in breed profiles that Weims are strong-willed and difficult. Buddy is the exact opposite. He's playful, but docile and obedient at the same time. He's intelligent and affectionate, and the most loyal dog I could ever hope for. Not to mention that he's gorgeous. I recommend Weimaraners to anyone looking for the perfect dog.

I have had two weimies, one when I was a child and the present one who is 10years old Dec. 1st. We are both Sagittarius. Silver was the dog of my childhood and Grey is my dog now. Both dogs were and are high strung. Grey is only happy when two inches away from me. He is charming, obstinate, willful and very smart. He will look through the pantry for Paul Neumann's Peach Salsa and unscrews it with his paws. The only thing is he doesn't screw the lid back on. Anyone thinking about getting this dog better be prepared for high maintenance dog. I love him dearly but would not get another.

I have two males and they are the greatest dogs in the world. They are very intelligent and contrary to what I have read, they do not have to run to be happy. Dieter and Bodie are perfectly content to lay on the couch every single day till dinner. I do take them to a wildlife management area on Sundays so they can work on their pointing skills. This breed is a true joy but please remember that every dog is different. If you are considering on be sure you are prepared for a super smart super stubborn family member
