From Lee, St. Louis, Missouri I love these dogs. They are fun, funny, loving and protective. They are
incredible athletes; especially running and swimming. I have two poodles; Susie
Lee and Anna Banana. Susie Lee plays water volleyball and usually wins.
From Kay, Illinois The Standard Poodle did not originate in France. It originated in Germany
where it was bred as a hunting dog, a water retriever. That's how the "poms"
came about...to insulate the joints.
From Lyss77, Michigan We have an 8-yr old standard poodle. He is excellent with children, loves to
tease and play, and he is very intelligent! Many people are not attracted to any
poodle because when they look at pictures of them they have the show cut look,
and are not cute like a new puppy, but most families do not cut like that. if
you are looking for a dog, get a standard poodle! they are excellent guard dogs
too!
From Cris, Livermore They did not originate in France, but in Germany I believe
From Daniel, Arizona Being a handler and groomer of standard poodles, I just want to let the
writer of this site know that standard poodles originated in Germany and it was
the French who took the breed and bred them down to miniature and toy.
