A Rhodesian Ridgeback is a very elegant dog but powerful breed. He has speed, power, courage and a very loving nature. He is not a dog for the fainthearted and must have firm but gentle training from a puppy. He loves his comfort . A good temperament is another most important part of this breed. Remember once you have owned A Rhodesian Ridgeback you will be hooked for life. Love is a RR

Spot on! I found my Ridgeback, Rocky, at a local animal rescue that I found using Petfinder.com. He's been my best friend for 3 years now. He's very friendly, smart, strong, loyal and protective. He loves people once he gets to know them...about 2 minutes unless you have treats or bacon or ham with you...then he'll be your best friend. He also loves other animals...yes even cats. They just don't care for 85 lb dogs much. He loves car rides and is very well behaved. He either stares out the windows or lays down. Believe it or not he even loves to get baths which makes my life very easy. Another of his best characteristics is that he doesn't bark in the house. I can't imagine my life without him now, but not for everyone considering his size and strength.

Out of all the dogs I have owned my Ridgeback is the best dog. He is extremely loyal and loving, gentle, obedient, smart and protective. I love my dog.
