I got my little peke focci about a year ago, Ive never owned a small dog before. But as many people have stated, pekes are not ur usual little dog! She is a big dog in a little package thats for sure!!Focci has a funny personality, which is hard not 2 laugh at. One crazy thing is that she RARELY ever barks or makes any sound. Shes very playful, but can also b very mellow and relaxed. She is super smart and is eager 2 learn commands, she is always happy 2 see me ;)

I have always had large dogs until now. I have a white Pekingese that has proven to be one of the best dogs we've ever had. He is loaded with personality, he's funny, he affectionate and never gives a minute of trouble. I'm very glad I made the decision to get him.

I've also only had big dogs. The Pekingese is my first little dog. Talk about a big dog in a little package. She loves to go hiking, jumping into ponds after ducks, diving into waves at the beach! Other owners have told me their pekes have the same fearless, outgoing personalities. I've never coddled her like a little dog, so she's not yappy and antisocial. She'll go up to anyone or any dog and be friends. But she'll still warn of strangers approaching the house. She is stubborn though and occasionally "forgets" what sit, stay, come, etc. are. Otherwise, she's great!

My daughter wanted a Pekingese puppy for her HS grad present. We went to a breeder and she had 3 pups. When she let them out the big boy ran straight to my girl and started licking her face. He chose us and who can argue with fate. We have had him a year now and he is the smartest most loving dog!

Now that I am on my third Pekingese, I only wished I would have found or knew what I know now about this breed. My sister was a breeder and got me hooked on them. My Caz was my first. She was a fawn color with a black mask. She was fearless. She loved to play soccer and was very good at keeping the ball from you. She liked to swim across the pond and sneak in my neighbors pet door and play with her Yorkshire terriers. Caz did not understand that a white carpet was not good after a muddy swim across the pond. About one year later I got Caz a brother (Zac). She loved him and he did her. She played and nurtured him like he was her puppy. They both got along very well with other dogs. True they are smart, playful Very cute and entertaining. Yes very stubborn. I love to watch them walk. They look like a big hamster waddling along. Never say the word Walk around them unless you are ready to put on the leash and go for a walk, I had to put my Caz down last December due to her heart. My sister was on her death bed and only responded to me (which surprised everyone) when I told her I would watch and take care of her Bonnie until she came home. She opened her eyes, reached up and took my hand. The nurse said she had not responded for over 24 hours. She died a few hours after she knew her last Pekingese had a good home. Now Bonnie and Zac have a good loving home with me and my two Pekingese. I only wished Caz was still here to be with us. I love this breed. So many people use this breed to make other popular breeds. Cute Begins with Pekingese.
