From Lindsey, Virginia I got my Siberian for my 19th birthday. She was definitely the best
present ever. Like the puppy in the other comment, she loved to take
refuge under the coffee table, but she grew out of that when she got more
comfortable with her new surroundings. She's pretty territorial at first
when she meets new people, but once she gets to know you, it's awesome!!
She's extremely energetic, and has helped to whip me into shape!! This
breed is awesome as long as you have a lot of time to dedicate to your new
puppy!
From Anonymous, Toronto, ON My Sibe is so wonderful... intelligent, energetic. I adopted her from an
all-breed rescue shelter in Schomberg at 6 months of age. She had been abused by
her previous owner, and was very distrusting, especially towards men. She's
doing great now, and in fact, one of her favorite people is my father! Whenever
we walk her we get compliments about how beautiful she is, and have been asked
many times whether we would like to breed her...too bad...she's been spayed.
From Mishka, Connecticut I'm going to disagree that the husky is not good with children. We are on
our third shelter/rescue husky and getting along with children is what makes all
their other habits tolerable. Such as needing a pack (other dogs or not being
left alone) running away, prey drive and FUR.
[Editor's Response: We
feel we should point out as we have many times that a 'poor' rating for children
does not mean aggression or such like, it simply means other dogs are more
playful - but we admit that every dog is different!]
From Monica, Arizona We have a 1 year old Siberian Husky and he is the best dog we've ever had.
He is very affectionate and playful with other dogs and with children. I
was actually surprised to see that this web site has Huskys as one of the breeds
less suitable for kids. I have read several books on this breed and they
all say that Husky is a good breed for kids. The only draw back is their
size, it can be intimidating for some kids, but they usually know how to treat
small people. From what I've experienced, they are not aggressive towards
kids at all.
