There is so much that I could say about this breed. I have four retired racing greyhounds, all I have adopted. In my past I have had several different breeds of dogs, but let me tell ya .. I love these guys. They are so gentle and very sweet, even the males. They love being with you at all times and all they want to do is just be loved. All four of mine sleep with me at night, they have to be with mom. And when they aren't with me (when they are with Dad downstairs) then I cant sleep, lol. They sure can run though, although you don't have to "run" them everyday. I let my guys outside in our huge fenced yard and let them do their thing, if they feel like running they run. My guys are 40 MPH couch potatoes lol! They love the retired life. My female is my baby, she and I have bonded lol. I picked her out up at the kennel at the race track for her to be a foster dog. I had placed her in a home and they tried crating her the first day they were away putting her in a crate the size for a Great Dane) and she has separation anxiety. She got her foot caught on the cage and injured her front foot very bad. I took her back and nursed her back and then I couldn't be separated from her myself. Anyway, these guys have been such a blessing to me, as you can tell I have four of them and I would have more if I just had a bigger bed!!!

For all the people out there who have the misconception that greyhounds are aggressive dogs that require a lot of exercise, you really need to meet a greyhound... and soon.  I have had a variety of dogs and my current retired racer is absolutely the best I've ever had.  Aside from his "mad" 5 minutes tearing around in the backyard and a short walk around the block, he spends the rest of the day sleeping on the couch, his hammock or on my bed.  What a life!  So placid and easygoing, the kids play with him and he just lays there and takes whatever they dish out.  Loves pats and cuddles and quite often lays on the couch next to me with his head on my lap.  If you are after a low maintenance, affectionate, good natured dog you can't go past a greyhound.

Recently acquired a slow Greyhound, and find her to be delightful. She is gentle and timid. Prefers women to men. Doesn't chase cats, and is scared of small yapping dogs. Her manners are wonderful, and very delicate. She quickly became my steadfast companion. She is about to turn 2yrs old. If you want a devoted dog, then I can heartily recommend a Greyhound.
