Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By AL - Jackson, Mississippi I have had a lot of different kinds of dogs, but never have I had one as loving and loyal as my Great Dane. She is the best dog that I have ever had. Despite her very large size she is extremely gentle and loving. She is very affectionate and seems content just to be around you! She loves children! She sleeps a lot, but when she is awake, what a characters he is! I HIGHLY recommend this breed for anyone who loves big dogs!
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Jen K - USA Mantle is also an accepted show color of Great Danes in the US since 1999. So the show colors are: Harlequin, Mantle (called Boston in Canada), Black,Brindle, Fawn and Blue.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By 'holyhannah' - Canada My husband & I have been looking into adopting a canine into our family. I am partial to any dog, he is partial to the Great Dane / Bull Mastiff breed. We have a chance to adopt a 2 year old Great Dane. I have visited many websites to find out as much as I could about living with a Great Dane. Breeding is good! I am disappointed that I could not find a site on what type of personality a Great Dane has and what an owner should expect after the dog has been bred to its maximum.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Sue - South Africa Great Danes are true gentle giants, they make the most delightful pets, and they are wonderful with children (best if they grow up with children from a young age). I have had Great Danes all my life, and I will never have any other dog. They are my companions & protectors. A highly recommended breed.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Tina Teese - UK I now have my third Great Dane, each has been with me until the end, this breed is one, in which once you have one no other breed will be enough. They are loyal, friendly, beautiful dogs, which are easy to socialize and keep with other pets, including smaller dogs. If you want a dog that will love you and keep you safe choose a Dane, there is no better breed.
