Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Ronni - New Jersey I have a chestnut colored, smooth-haired daschund whose name isChester (or Chetty as I call him). He is very loving and loyal, he is very protective over me. He has the tendency to think that he is bigger than he really is! He always stands his ground when meeting a bigger dog! He's not very fond of children, especially those that try to invade his personal space; it causes him to get nervous and cranky. Other than that, he's a great dog and I love him!
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Margaret - South Africa My son has a mini male daschund and 2 Jack Russells and find the daschund an arrogant dog who will not back down when chastised. He is inclined to go for you when you smack him, I just need some character profile on this breed as he is a temperamental but lovable fellow. Need to know how to handle his temperament.
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Kelly - North Carolina We have a 3 year old named Walter, AKA 'Walter the Wonder Dog'. He does not fall into the common stereotypes for this breed, he is always happy and has never met a stranger, he is not yappy either, and is most content when being loved and cuddled - he is the very best snuggle buddy - and we all love him dearly!
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Solange Bareford - New Jersey I bought my wire haired at a breeder in Herborn, Germany.. Her name is Lolaand she is a very funny and lovable dog. She weighs 16 pounds and is 3 years old. Lola is a very curious dog, likes to steal socks and other clothes. She loves our cat, Max, but the cat does not like her. Overall, she is a very cuddly and playful dog with a great temperament (though she does not obey all the time).
Added on Jan 1st, 2008 By Betty Hylands - New Jersey We have a wonderful black mini daschund. She is very cuddly but also very territorial. I was wondering if anyone could help with this problem. I would like people to come and visit without being scared of her. I don't want to pen her up all the time. She nipped the leg of a repairman that came in. Please help if you can. Thanks.
