From Charles, Missouri I have the most wonderful Chow Chow in the world, Her name is Sunny and she
is the best 4 year old daughter I could ask for. Her mother and I love her very
dearly.
From Kelly, Massachusetts I love my chow very much, but if you are not experienced with this breed,
PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not get one. They are extremely loyal but
attach themselves to certain people and certain people only. They can be very
dangerous to children, cats, and other creatures they perceive to be
"below" them on the hierarchy. They make good guard dogs, and okay
pets, if you socialize them with different people and animals and environments
at an early age. If not, a chow chow is a walking lawsuit.
From Monica, Location Unknown Chows are my most favorite breed of dog. They are very loyal to their
owners. I think the breed profile here made a mistake in saying they are
"poor" for kids. ANY dog, weather it my lab or chow is not going to be
very good with kids if it's not raised with them.
From Carla, Whittier, California I have a 6 year old Chow and she is the BEST thing for my family. She
loves us very much and is very loyal. Ginger is a over grown lap dog who
loves to be loved on and played with 24/7. I can actually say she is the
best pet I have ever had. A lot of people are deathly afraid of Chows
because of the awful things said about them. But just like any dog, if you love
them and treat them like a part of the family then it's just like having a child.
From Chris And Pam, Florida Our chow chow, Bo, is wonderful and perfect for us. He's quiet, unless
there is a noise he feels he needs to warn us/them about. He loves to be
in the same room, lying close. He's playful, yet not too much so, so we're
able to do other things as well. When my husband is out of town, he literally
guards me, sleeping between myself and the door. He trusts us completely,
and "knows" that he is family. My husband had him before we were
married, so although it took some time for him to accept me, he certainly has.
I knew little about the breed before him. Now, the chow chow is definitely
my most preferred breed. He's loving, loyal, and fits our active lifestyle
of two working adults. Perfect for us.
